Coachella is very much for ppl who are getting positive buzz. Katy is on the opposite side of that right now. Maybe in the future when she rehabilitates her image.

I can see it. Gaga's career was "over" in 2014 and she's headlined Coachella twice since then to huge acclaim.

Coachella wants to be seen as being cool, but at the same time they want to play it safe.

In 2025 Katy is in that intersection of not-cool, but also not a safe choice either.

 

Perhaps in a few years she could do it.

It would be a nice full circle moment for her since she started with Warped Tour, but I'd rather wait a few years before she does it.

Probably not next year but maybe the following, I see her being a sub-headliner though. She'd absolutely pull a crowd during her timeslot, more than Travis and post did W2 this year, walking past their crowds and it being less packed than the sub-headliners was wild to see lol

Maybe not right now when there is an active hate train going on for her from all corners of the internet. But she has the catalogue of smash hits and classics, career highs, the name recognition, a reputation of bringing high octane pop spectacle to any stage, she literally did the Súperbowl to universal acclaim and has already done so many other major festivals like Rock in Rio, Glastonbury etc. So yes, she definitely can headline coachella when much much more niche artists from kpop (to the west) are doing that in recent years. It just needs to be when all this vitriol dies down.
