keep saying it out loud and maybe you will convince hope

Best Production: 143

Best Lyrics: Mayhem.

Mayhem wins in lyrics but production wise, it disappoints me compared Chromatica. I want some more prog-rock, some more industrial production and less pop production. The album cover definitely mis-advertises how you think the album will sound. Thought it would it sound like this,

Spoiler

I think she wasted the concept this era. She needed more punk elements for the album. Hell, she should have made the album shoegaze with the help of The Stargazer Lilies to give us,

Spoiler

Disease vs. Woman's World

Abracadabra vs. Gimme Gimme (featuring 21 Savage)

Garden of Eden vs. Gorgeous (featuring Kim Petras)

Perfect Celebrity vs. I'm His, He's Mine (featuring Doechii)

Vanish Into You vs. Crush

Killah (featuring Gesaffelstein) vs. Lifetimes

Zombieboy vs. All the Love

LoveDrug vs. Nirvana

How Bad Do U Want Me vs. Artificial (featuring JID)

Don't Call Tonight vs. Truth

Shadow of a Man vs. Wonder

The Beast vs. I Woke Up

Blade of Grass vs. No More Tears For New Years

M = 6 vs 143 = 8. Sry but the album is okay but not the best she could deliver with the concept. Killah is the best song on the album, it is perfect. Very Prince-coded

What production aspect of 143 that makes it better than Mayhem besides the outdated, non-revolutionary, dull and uninspiring sound? 143 should have never been created at first place.

For one, 143's production has a continuous thread throughout the album, and is less disjointed in concept than Mayhem. The instrumental of Mayhem are great when standalone but it suffers when played as an album. She could have easily chosen to make the production more 80s-90s industrial with funky leanings for all the songs to match the energy of Killah & Garden Of Eden, Perfect Celebrity, Zombieboy, LoveDrug (more 80s pop) but, songs like Die WIth A Smile (I know it is the last song) & Shadow of Man, break the flow of the album. Honestly, she would have gotten all if she leaned on the funk for the entire album. Just because the lyrics might be bad, doesn't mean 143's production isn't stellar and perfectly encompasses the era the album is trying to evoke (90s trances & eurotrash).

The production of 143 is clean but nowhere near stellar or perfectly encompassing as you're saying. It lacks soul and personality and as much as you're trying to find a good excuse for the "eurotrash" sonic that it is, it's still pretty much dull.

Actually, it is, if you knew anything about Europop scene of the 90s and early 2000s, 143 would fit right in. Not the tired, "but ____ music lacks soul". Unless Gaga is making actual soul music, her music would have been considered soulless by the musical elites back in the day. That quote has lost all meaning and is just a buzzword for pretentious music critcs that believe there is a difference between music. If music lacked soul, wouldn't that also mean electronic music such as the entirety of Mayhem also lack soul because newsflash, the instrumentation is primarily electronic.

Just because it fits in a certain era, doesn't make it any better of a production than Mayhem. Soul here doesn't mean genre but the thoughts and the efforts put into it. Unfortunately, 143 doesn't have any thoughts and efforts in terms of artistry, just plain and boring with absolutely zero bridges or any surprises. Every track is predictable and doesn't transcend. However, on a technicality, 143 is well-mixed, properly-produced as it's complete as a whole but that's the only plus I could think of for 143.

Disease

Abracadabra

Garden of Eden

Perfect Celebrity

Vanish Into You

Killah (featuring Gesaffelstein)

Zombieboy

LoveDrug

How Bad Do U Want Me

Don't Call Tonight

Shadow of a Man

The Beast

Blade of Grass

Die with a Smile

143 didn't stand a chance.

I… can't.

:rip:

I love a good Gaga dragging but 143 might be the worst album by a pop girl since maybe AKA by JLO.

Whatever the Monsters believe, 143 ain't as bad as it's pictured to be and MAYHEM ain't as good as they want it to be!

Both albums are mid, MAYHEM is a bit better because it's more consistent.

no it wouldn't :skull: y'all just love to say stuff at this point

Anyone saying 143 is either…

• Lying

• Trolling

• Or has truly questionable taste

MAYHEM clears in every conceivable metric.
