Usually prefer the Oscars over the grammys but this is the first year in ages that the grammys were better tbh. Did anyone else feel the same way? Something about the pacing of the show was off and the performances were largely disappointing (minus the big Ari / Cynthia moment). 

The only good thing is that Connan O Brian was better than Trevor Noah but he also wasnt that funny tbh

I find the oscars so boring. I have always preferred the Grammys

The Oscars are by far the award show I'm least interested in unless someone I follow is performing.

Definitely. Movies are infinitely better than music tho, so cinema stays winning

2024 in music was way better than 2024 in films. The AOTY category was stacked with stars and great albums this year, the Best Picture category was very MEH

I highly disagree. I almost watched every movie nominated for Best Picture this year. Never happened that before.

 

Also, seeing veterans like Pamela, Demi and Dennis shine is truly a highlight!

Oscars are usually boring and predictable, Grammys are so much more fun since anything might happen. Like I did NOT expect queen Bey to win AOTY this year, I thought Billie had it on lock

Wins both were very cute, but yeah they dropped the ball at the Oscars. It was very unremarkable and not interesting or celebratory (as Award shows should) at all.

watching any awards show is a crime. reading winners list is enough for me instead of watching this 4 hours boring as **** snorefest

The GRAMMYs had better live performances, but I preferred the Oscars host and the actual award winners. I don't like how the GRAMMYs only gives out of a few awards (and I disagreed with most winners). Whereas with the Oscars, it was such a serve to see the best movie of 2024 take home so many awards, including Best Picture

Oscars are really a bore tbh, hate her all you want but Ellen had one of the most memorable and fun years at that cerimony.

Agreed and that Demi lost made it worse.

It's usually the other way round, and even with great films in the nominations list like The Substance, Wicked and Conclave, they weren't really in the running (well Conclave at least, I was hoping it would win BP).

The 2024 music year is just stacked. Even with an underwhelming win for Beyonce the starpower in the Grammys is just off the charts.

For the first time, yes, especially with the final winners. That was awful as hell. 

 

Grammys needs to include more winners in the main ceremony tho. 9 categories for a 3 hours show is a crime.

The Oscars ceremony was so poorly directed this year. So many missed camera cues, so many audio issues, so many weird and inconsistent creative choices, so many moments of dead air... The Grammys are always more interesting in terms of performances, but I do expect a certain level of polish and prestige from the Oscars that I didn't really feel this year.

I agree Adrien Brody stumbling through a 5 minute self-important speech and Kieran Culkin fantasizing about giving his wife creampies on stage was only some of the troubles of the night.
