i just laughed at the butterfly effect of me hiding posts causing an entire function breaking on the whole forum. how fragile does a feature have to be to crumble under some random user's power?

It's weird cuz Ryan said in the pinned post on March 14 that guests had been "permanently disabled and will not be re-enabled until/if the owner resurfaces" and yet sometime between then and now they were reenabled, which makes me wonder...did the owner come back just to do that and ignore everything else going on? If so, is it because he noticed a drop in ad revenue, came back to investigate why, and noticed it's because guests were disabled?

 

If that's the case, it also strengthens an idea I had. What if we did shut down ATRL for let's say a week or so and open that rumored Discord for users to use in the meantime. (We'd have to choose a quieter week in pop culture though so as to not be unfair to fanbases of big artists releasing/promoting/etcetera during the blackout, and give enough of a lead time so users are aware.) If the owner really is just returning to check what's going on when ad revenue drops, this complete zeroing out of revenue could be what it takes for him to take our concerns seriously if there's a legitimate threat of the site closing down in favor of a new one.

 

This is all conjecture though, I really have no idea what's going on, and I don't want the admin team to get in trouble for attempting this coup.

I don't know who keeps enabling guests, but it needs to be turned OFF—like, until the owner sells the site. The website is held together with glue sticks and sticky notes . It cannot handle guests.

Nope, they've been enabled for some time (I don't know exactly how long though) since that post.

 

You can check easily by going to ATRL in an incognito tab — if it forces you to log in to see anything, guests are disabled, but if you can still see the site from the get go, guests are enabled.

I don't really see how Discord could solve anything as it's not the same as forum and there is already a handful of discord chanels with people from ATRL

Well they should keep it off because this is the fastest the form has been in a while

Discord really should be just a temporary thing....

 

I know it's not really my place to say but I can't help but wonder is there really no one else to take over? 

 

If I knew the site would still be this buggy after all these years, I swear I would've spent years preparing for it....

 

Anyway, the site's working fine now, so let's just leave everything as is. No guests please. And we honestly don't need more features or anything...
