Is this one of those moments similar to when people who are about to die suddenly get a boost of energy, before actually dying 24 hours later :jonny:

the "moving everything to Discord" is a terrible decision n̶o̶t̶ b̶e̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ i̶t̶s̶ s̶a̶d̶l̶y̶ b̶a̶n̶n̶e̶d̶ i̶n̶ T̶u̶r̶k̶e̶y̶ but because Discord is NOT a forum/website replacement, like it wouldn't feel the same at all.

i really don't get the fears about creating a new website. if it gets advertised enough here before the transition, everyone will naturally move there of course. just keep the same theming and layout, but with the updated version of everything. updated plugins, updated servers, modernized backend & more, with the same theme. then just call it BTRL or something.

the whole "losing your account history" is also bullshit imo. like you're basically just a stan account here, you're not a history book. no one's going to care about that when all the awful site issues are finally fixed. i think most people would be fine starting from scratch if it means a smoother experience forever overall.

i don't get why this wouldn't work. :celestial5:

it runs fine for 5 minutes whenever the site comes back, it will be over any second now trust :clack:

Right? We've done this 100 times. It's the abusive partner who has hurt us too many times, comes crawling back for forgiveness and is sweet for 5min before resuming BAU. ATRL I will not let you back into my heart again! This time it's different for real (fr).

Aren't there IT firms or professionals out there that can resolve these issues for good? or at least find out what the root cause is for all of these errors

Agree

Guests have been disabled again and the site seems to be running smoothly, I guess that really was the problem all along? :deadbanana:

It's weird cuz Ryan said in the pinned post on March 14 that guests had been "permanently disabled and will not be re-enabled until/if the owner resurfaces" and yet sometime between then and now they were reenabled, which makes me wonder...did the owner come back just to do that and ignore everything else going on? If so, is it because he noticed a drop in ad revenue, came back to investigate why, and noticed it's because guests were disabled?

If that's the case, it also strengthens an idea I had. What if we did shut down ATRL for let's say a week or so and open that rumored Discord for users to use in the meantime. (We'd have to choose a quieter week in pop culture though so as to not be unfair to fanbases of big artists releasing/promoting/etcetera during the blackout, and give enough of a lead time so users are aware.) If the owner really is just returning to check what's going on when ad revenue drops, this complete zeroing out of revenue could be what it takes for him to take our concerns seriously if there's a legitimate threat of the site closing down in favor of a new one.

This is all conjecture though, I really have no idea what's going on, and I don't want the admin team to get in trouble for attempting this coup. :deadbanana2:

which makes me think the owner really is just keeping it running to get dimes in his pocket instead of actually selling it to one of the other admins that actually try and keep the site running
