Holds a writing camp

Selects a handful of songs

Records HITS that literally don't age

Drives ATRLers crazy

Takes an 8-year-long break

Drives Navy crazy

Is this why we haven't had a post-Caution album?

Taylor does it differently every time...sometimes she writes a song by herself, sends it to the producer she's working with, and they produce it together

 

 

Sometimes she starts an idea by herself and then brings it in to who she's working with

 

 

Sometimes a producer will send her an instrumental track and she writes the song on top of it:

 

Mariah's is well-documented as a writer, producer, and vocal arranger. She even has a MasterClass about it.

 

 

It's different every time for Kelly too....sometimes people pitch songs to her that she'll record (and will often tweak lyrics/melodies to fit her better).  She held a writing camp I believe for Meaning of Life.

 

Sometimes she comes up with a topline melody/lyrics and sends them to whoever she's working with:
