These soloists don't have any perspective. They don't write their own songs and, based on Blackpink's output w Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, they also can't sing. Lisa's album is basically the same as Katy's recent album, a slopped up mess of shitty demos that's sold with sex appeal. Jennie's was a better album but is still just a slop of label bought demos glued together with a Zico penned track in there. It's 'groundbreaking' to their stans because they don't actually listen to music or appreciate artistry, they just look at her fancams. 

 

The closest to a good solo album from an idol that's made for a western push so far was Golden. Seven was a bonafide worldwide smash hit and it really didn't feel forced, it just naturally took off. It also had a clear perspective and sounded cohesive. I hate BTS but Jungkook proved he can actually PERFORM, sing and dance at the same time which is what should be the standard. We've been accepting substandard performances from these idols for years. Part of the appeal was always that it was manufactured but now that theyre trying to break into the US market it's coming off as needlessly corny and untalented.

Gaga's performance is gonna be on the top of everybody's mood board for the next few years and nobody will come close to touching it because they are incapable of doing so. She blended artistry with poetry, stage writing, composition, performance art, dancing, live singing, live instrumentation, and genuine care for her craft. People are not capable of doing that to her level, especially idol groups. They dont write these songs they can never have the insight or perspective on humanity that somebody like Gaga can project through her art. The wrong takeaway from the performance is gonna be the spectacle. The real takeaway is that there are still artists that can actually put ******* work into their craft, even 20 years in, and have it show on that stage. That takes genuine talent and nobody in BP is capable.

i agree. also as someone who is obsessed with stage production, i think kpop seriously lacks in that department, mostly because companies want to save as much money as they can which is beyond sad. and for some other reasons that i cited here in the past. i don't think they'll ever be capable of doing a show even just as good as the monster ball / born this way ball, let alone gagachella lol. also outside of stage production, none of these idols can sing anymore so...
