Fans have been gaslit by corporations into thinking they like this **** but they really don't

 

 

Anybody who has ever been to a full length aespa concert can tell you that at a certain point in the concert where they stop worrying about looking cute and adding a layer of aegyo idol waifu character performance to everything, the show becomes much better and higher energy. The crowd becomes more engaged too. People like having 24/7 access to idols but consistently the most popular idols of all time are all people who either take extensive breaks from that **** or just refuse to do it at all. It's ******* weird that SM was able to put out a music video where SHINee was drugged, kidnapped, abused, and heavily implied to be r*ped by sasaengs, with sexual assault being shown. It's even weirder that in the video SHINee are pretending to be okay with it. This went on to be their signature song and not a single soul still brings up the video. It's NOT the freak **** that made it popular.

 

 

I don't need to remind this thread for a 2nd time this week what happened 2 years later. Its insidious that these companies encourage the parasocial behavior. It's strictly because stalkers and antisocial weirdos are a more predictable and consistent revenue stream, it has nothing to do with actual demand from the public.

 

Groups like Stray Kids and NCT who have single fans buying hundreds of CDs each are more reliable as a business model than hoping your music actually connects with the public so the companies lean into it and try to force groups into this by putting out mediocre music and not emphasizing talent so that the only people they can attract aren't ******* normal.

Like we all clown on aespa for the constant lip syncing but it's literally because they're being choreographed down to individual facial expressions and forced to act like caricatures. Do y'all seriously think women who spent their whole life predebut training to be SINGERS and DANCERS like to be doing basic one two step choreo and paying more attention to being sure they stand just right so that the fan is blowing their hair while they make a cvnty face during their turn on the screen? Do any of you as fans seriously prefer that to live vocals and high energy but less perfection? These decisions are being made by the COMPANIES to lure in whale fans. There will always be groups talented enough and music good enough to be worth paying attention to despite these things but someday if this industry wants to be sustainable as a global phenomenon it's going to need to stop sabotaging its own quality and reputation.

EXACTLY!!!!! aespa are a great example of phenomenal singers who have so much potential as performers, but are sabotaged because the most important thing in kpop in 2025 is to look like a lifeless doll (not saying aespa are like that tho) for the cameras and the fancams that weirdo fans will replay 500 times with their weird fantasies in mind. even down to the stage production, they're blinded by extra bright lights to make them appear as white as possible and the entire thing looks lifeless

 

that's why i sorta like their coachella performance because you can see they're having fun despite being nervous. the way they interact with the crowd too...!!

 

but yeah, imagine if someone like gaga or beyonce cared more about looking perfect for the cameras rather than giving a breathtaking show 

 

anyway i think my biggest problem is the constant fansigns, video calls (extremely weird and predatory), messaging apps and all that parasocial bullshit that sell the artists to those weirdo fans... i'm so glad someone is finally speaking about how ****** up this industry is

I was there in person with @lgaga1fan. It was a completely different vibe to their concerts and it was way better tbh. If your very first time at a real ticketed set is your best work, that's sabotage.

 

But idol doll factory HYBE had to go start the narrative that they're bad performers because they were in the moment instead of being robots. 

 

I think this is connected to the fansigns and social media updates because they're bringing their assigned characters into these photoshoots disguised as performances, and like I said, the real aespa still pops out from time to time just enough to know that they're not the problem imo. It's the companies.

So a lot of the times when idols miss schedules due to 'injuries,' there's a high chance they might actually be recovering from plastic surgery. It makes sense, as I've always wondered when they found time to heal after their cosmetic procedures.

same i saw aespa last year in a festival with a huge crowd of drunk students and 0 professional camera except for the one that filmed for the big screen and it was amazing. their vocals were incredible and you could tell they were just having fun without the pressure of having all those 4K cameras on and the robotic fans in front of them. their presence and interactions were soooo good 

 

if i remember well i think LSM called them himself before coachella and told them to let loose and just have fun. i wish it was always like that
