Like this is the entire issue with kpop fans. A precedent is being upheld that the artists we all love can be cut off by their company at any minute with zero recourse and y'all are celebrating because you're all blinks or mys and this improves your favs' standing in an imaginary rat race. This was a chance to take the rats off the racetrack and see how far they can actually go.

In reality, if bang sihYUCK wasn't left unchecked, none of our favs would be subject to this kind of abuse and the cream would actually be allowed to float to the top in this industry unobstructed. The NJZ/ILLIT situation is literally exactly what happened to Girls' Generation, bar for bar. The ceo was scared at how much power these girls had and wanted to handicap them to transfer some of their popularity onto other groups. This was a chance to forge a better path. You all literally have worms for brains. :rip:

I think NewJeans' situation is unique because of the multi-label business that Bang tried to pull instead of creating his own artists - there doesnt seem to be a precedent for that. Straight talk, he wanted in on all the creative direction of the labels under him. Ador basically operated as a separate entity under HYBE during NewJeans because MHJ didn't play ball. He saw how well they were doing and wanted to recreate that success and it snowballed from there. This would never happen in a regular kpop label because there would be no MHJ to stonewall someone in Bang's position :michael:

I agree that NewJeans winning would be favorable for idol rights in general but I don't think this would be the case that would do it - power grabs between conglomerates and subsidiaries (Bang and MHJ) is more at the crux of this whole issue.

I'm getting tired with all this NJ talk. Heehee can still rot along with those CEOS behind this companies, not supporting frauds and kiikiis would be a step in the right direction

back to aespa. SM being late and dumb as always :coffee2:

Because I don't think LSRF fans were defending him big time like NJs fans have to do with MHJ.
Let's be honest, if you want to fully support NJs, you are forced to defend MHJ as well. She is that important to the group and the current events.

And just because there are other shady/creepy executives, doesn't make MHJ less problematic.

Yeah that's my point! The thing that i don't understand is, why the selective outrage from these kpop fans over MHJ particularly? Just because she's (rightfully) protective of her work and success?

And if the girls and the original Ador team feel comfortable enough around her that they're willing to go through all these trials, isn't that a testament to her skills as a leader?

I guess until there's like a concrete evidence that she did something awful, i will not understand the outrage...

This is how HYBE effectively portrayed the issue but what really happened is that BSH bought out the creative director of a rival he is to this day unhealthily obsessed with comparing himself/his organization to, then threw a tantrum when she was equally better than his staff at ADOR as she was at SM.

Kpop companies are desperate to keep up the facade that their lazy business model is what drives growth and continuously stepping on any artist who threatens that narrative is not in the best interest of the artists, the public, or the shareholders, but it's the only thing keeping upper management employed and is the hook they reel in foreign investors with. Every time a NewJeans is thrown away for a less talented, less original Illit who will never have the same potential(and this has happened MANY times), it legitimizes the claim that the label is the only factor in who becomes a star and how popular they can become. In a world where the major American/UK labels have lost any ability to force a star into the a-list its an attractive lie.

We can all observe how GD and IU are literally untouchable in the current day and do not need the assistance of a big 3 company to dominate both locally and internationally, but that's really only because SNSD, 2NE1, TVXQ all had issues with their labels and were buried. Its in the company's best interest to make sure their artists don't ascend to that level, GD and IU were allowed to because they were quite literally the only people bringing money into their respective companies for a decade and there was no alternative.

But you were just rejoicing on the previous page about their "downfall" (might i add bc of some stan war'd crap on twitter :rip:)

I love Oh!GG but we need more singers besides taeyeon and sunny :eli:

In reality what fans have known all along and what these companies are desperately trying to bury the lead on is that: Just like every other music market on earth, kpop's popularity is driven by the talent. It's easy to lure CL into the studio to write and record a 3rd 2NE1 album so that she can be locked in a dungeon and the demos handed over to Jisoo, but Jisoo will never write a half-decent album for Ahyeon. It's misguided short-term growth that pads the pockets of narcissistic CEOs and damages the entire industry down the road.

Burying NJZ and MHJ is a loss for the entire industry. Kpop is going to stay exclusively popular with furries and league of legends players in the west, that will be the fallout of this decision.

let's not even get started with the favoritism narrative toward LSF

the collateral damage this case did to their brand esp in korea is definitely understated.

It is really unfortunate how aespa, njz, lsf all seem to genuinely really like and support each other but one of these groups was somehow twisted into the enemy of the other two.

What's good Korea??? hey girls.. I don't really go here but the recent BlackPink solo releases have me a bit tapped in. I've been doing research.

This right here…. This was everything….

like I'm taking notes. A lot of people should. Anyway loved all the solo efforts. Lisa I think I'm most disappointed in you chica but there's hope for you yet!

Rosé needs to get serious and I think she will be the biggest overall.

Jennie exceeded expectations.

Jisoo didn't even try to do the whole western takeover moment yet she was letting the girls breathe before she ends them I suppose.

Anyway where are the other Korean serves I need to tap into? BTS has crossed my desk before. It was fine. Meovv crossed my desk positively once. Stray kids I really like the pretty one. Katseye is coming.

Imagine thinking that being forced to come back to the same company that explicitly threatened to replace you, force you into a hiatus, steal your work, leak your data and badmouth you to the press is somehow a win bc you got offended by some trolls on tiktok/twitter :rip:
