While I do love Air and ABCD just how they are, I can't help but thinking how much the slayage would be maximized if Air was Nayeon's comeback and ABCD was Yeji's debut. Yeji would've slayed the choreophy more and Nayeon's tone would fit Air too well. I also think Yeji deserved a better and more memorable MV for her debut. But in a way I get it why it was done the way it was done. Air would be a little too similar to what TWICE already does and ABCD would also be sort of similar to ITZY. This way they can show other sides of themselves in their solos and stand out from their group material.

Wait you kinda ate with this one

can someone explain to a coping blink and on a brink of meltdown (def not me) why jennie and lisa are selling the same numbers as jihyo and nayeon of all people

roseanne really came through. rosé's pure sales alone (70k) are bigger than jennie and lisa's pure sales combined (53k)

edit: the def not me part was a joke jesus :toofunny3:

For every album Blackpink has sold, Twice has sold, well, twice as much.  Now, you can massage the numbers with Twice having twice as many members and probably four times as many releases, but just in terms of volume, Twice has a fanbase more steeped in the culture of moving polycarbonate and dead trees, as Blackpink came from a company that once said it didn't care about album sales.

not really, this is just for the US album sales. BLACKPINK still has so much better album sales than TWICE overall

i'm just so confused. maybe the purplewhales saying JYP has tricks to chart on billboard 200 is true but I cant find evidence yet

Because Twice is a bigger, more popular group + JYP was actively trying to hold back their solo potential and we've been telling you that for years. Black Pink had a lot more media play in the US, but it was never indicative of real local popularity. All kpop is still niche here and ALL kpop fans know both Nayeon and Lisa.

highly doubt nayeon or jihyo can sellout solo shows in the US and perform at Coachella as soloists or have this much album streams in the US in a week

1. ROSÉ, Rosie – 43.85M

2. GOLDEN – 41.5M

3. JENNIE, Ruby – 39.93M 🆕

4. LISA, Alter Ego – 23.12M

but what do I know

If G-Dragon was doing US arenas a decade ago solo, the leaders of a much more popular generation of kpop can too, regardless of which group they belong to. :michael:

nayeon and jihyo's US album sales are 99% pure sales. they barely had 1k worth of streams in the US

jennie, lisa and most especially rosé's US album sales are half paid/premium streams and half pure sales

jennie, rosé and lisa are 100000x more known in the US than nayeon and jihyo and i'm saying this respectfully not even trying to throw shade this time. i'm just confused how jenlisa are selling less than twice soloists but whatever I guess :michael:

If I'm barely a casual fan of jennie & lisa and have seen the "how to make a stream count for the us" guides, then you definitely have too. :eli:

Two of them had HBO shows and the other had a hit single with Bruno Mars, yes they have more general solo awareness, but no kpop idol is truly a-list in the US yet and the sales and streams were driven by stans, who statistically prefer Twice to BP ww. I swear I'm not being messy, we see across all generations in the US that BGs and GGs fall into similar numbers respectively. Nayeon's solos in particular are hugely popular and successful with the kpop audience, it's not shade to be comparable to somebody so talented and beloved. I'm really not trying to start stuff I even just said both groups are bigger than my fav in my own country. You're overestimating BP's ability to transcend the kpop weirdos audience and underestimating Twice's popularity with that same crowd. :khalyan2:

i'm not saying the pinks as soloists are a-listers in the states i'm just saying nayeon and jihyo's US album sales are kinda fishy since even jennie and lisa with much more general solo awareness in the US are having less pure album sales than them

but whatever maybe they're all really on the same level

It's all fishy, kpop albums are physically separated from the rest of the music at every major music retailer in the United States. Idk if you're in the US or not but when I say its niche and all these people are unknown, I sincerely mean it. It's seen as a weirder thing to be into than anime or video games. :deadbanana4:
