Well that's not the point you're shocked that two members from the best selling GG outsell Lisa and Jennie like it's a surprise. Maybe they don't have the a dedicated fanbase in the us it's not that hard to understand.

I think JYP is manipulating twice's billboard pure album sales by playing tricks that some asian sales can be counted for billboard 200 but i'll just stop here since I dont have evidence yet

you're a blink, you know damn well that fanbase is way too fragmented 

im pretty sure all of twice fanbase supported nayeon

at least the army can come together to support solo efforts blinks are too busy fighting about who promoted who on Instagram

This  the fact that the entire fanbase has separated is the reason they're performing like this, but also you can't expect much more when they're dipping into the west with little to no name for themselves as a solo artist 

 

Sure they've secured nice collabs, but that's just going to boost digitals, actually buying the album needs a lot more, and currently the album sales are only from kpop stans so no one is going to get insane numbers imo

Every single kpop album sale is fraudulent except for the ones I personally purchased.

Ok so i'm gonna ignore your clear shade in the last post and let me be as objective as possible here. I think one thing we all have to realize is that even though the Blackpink girls do have more solo awareness than Nayeon and Jihyo for a lot of reasons (YG's aggressive western media efforts for BP since as early as 2018 played a huge part for that among other reasons, compared to Twice- lemme not get into all that now), but that doesn't really guarantee that they were gonna have much bigger numbers than Nayeon/Jihyo in terms of album units. Rose having much higher SPS is not really shocking considering she had a smash with Bruno Mars and that definitely helped a lot. Lisa doing less than expected was due to her own circumstances (lukewarm reception to the album, the hype was already very low by the time the album came out, people expecting some high quality after NW/BA but we got the same-old-turds when she was in YG like FUTW and half the album, a big chunk of her solo fanbase is actually from SEAsia not the US etc). In Jennie's case, she isnt doing half-bad. Her numbers are really good for her level of recognition in the US, so i dont understand how high you were expecting her to be.

 

Now let's be clear, if you were expecting Jenlisa to inch miles ahead of NaJihyo, that's just your stan-bias talking. I live in the US and the gap between the dedicated fanbases and the gp's involvement in kpop is not as big as you're thinking. Remember, Twice has also sold out stadiums in the US. That shows interest in the kpop sphere as a whole, whether you like them or not. Plus, BP has a lot of solo stans who might support one member more than the other. Twice doesn't have that problem on that scale, the fanbase is way more united. Also BP has comebacks once in a blue moon and then they dip but Twice is very much active even while solo/subunit activities are happening in parallel. So the fanbase is much more active by default. Plus, can't believe i have to say this, a lot of people like both the groups, it just depends on what the rest of the people like and that's how . It's really not rocket science.

 

This whole conversation is just making me mad at JYP because of how much solo potential they have wasted of the Twice girls up until very recently. And i'm not even talking about the US because that was never Twice's main market since they have always been traditional kpop  and not a western-centric like Blackpink. I'm talking about how 2/3 of Twice could have been so much bigger individually in the kpop sphere in Asia if JYPIG was smart enough to invest in their individual profiles early on. Anyway, whatever I guess.

welp, this should be a lesson to all akgaes they should all start making up and supporting each other rather than one up'ing each other

 

blinks being divided is YG's fault though since the start when he let Jennie have a solo 2 years into blackpink's career and at their first peak too

 

I think the pinks are starting to build real solo fanbases by now and its actually kind of a good thing since this blackpink comeback might be their last as a group and girlgroups are always destined to disband and be solo artists anyways

lisa's tanking - I completely understand she should've released alter ego last year Oct. she dragged the era way too long imo (though as a blink I loved it) and the back to back to back backlash and scandals didnt help either  

 

rosé smashing - I think its unfair to keep attaching her success to bruno. yes, he's also the reason to APT's success but I highly doubt APT is the sole reason of her 70k pure sales alone (jennie + lisa's pure sales combined is 55k with 12 huge collabs combined too). rosé's album and songs are easily digestible in the west and her being fluent in english helped too. I think people saw how genuine and vulnerable she was and related to her album/era

 

jennie - this is the one i'm genuinely confused. 56k is the same as lisa's numbers when lisa tanked. jennie released 6 back to back singles in the last month alone and her collabs are with it girls dua lipa and doechii. the no vinyls argument is not valid either since nayeon and jihyo released their vinyls months later. I think she's really not that big in the US I guess

yes I think that solo happening right after 4D instead of an album/comeback had people really mad

if blinks got together they would've cleared at least 60k pure first week

there's no sisterhood now
