Ok so i'm gonna ignore your clear shade in the last post and let me be as objective as possible here. I think one thing we all have to realize is that even though the Blackpink girls do have more solo awareness than Nayeon and Jihyo for a lot of reasons (YG's aggressive western media efforts for BP since as early as 2018 played a huge part for that among other reasons, compared to Twice- lemme not get into all that now), but that doesn't really guarantee that they were gonna have much bigger numbers than Nayeon/Jihyo in terms of album units. Rose having much higher SPS is not really shocking considering she had a smash with Bruno Mars and that definitely helped a lot. Lisa doing less than expected was due to her own circumstances (lukewarm reception to the album, the hype was already very low by the time the album came out, people expecting some high quality after NW/BA but we got the same-old-turds when she was in YG like FUTW and half the album, a big chunk of her solo fanbase is actually from SEAsia not the US etc). In Jennie's case, she isnt doing half-bad. Her numbers are really good for her level of recognition in the US, so i dont understand how high you were expecting her to be.

 

Now let's be clear, if you were expecting Jenlisa to inch miles ahead of NaJihyo, that's just your stan-bias talking. I live in the US and the gap between the dedicated fanbases and the gp's involvement in kpop is not as big as you're thinking. Remember, Twice has also sold out stadiums in the US. That shows interest in the kpop sphere as a whole, whether you like them or not. Plus, BP has a lot of solo stans who might support one member more than the other. Twice doesn't have that problem on that scale, the fanbase is way more united. Also BP has comebacks once in a blue moon and then they dip but Twice is very much active even while solo/subunit activities are happening in parallel. So the fanbase is much more active by default. Plus, can't believe i have to say this, a lot of people like both the groups, it just depends on what the rest of the people like and that's how . It's really not rocket science.

 

This whole conversation is just making me mad at JYP because of how much solo potential they have wasted of the Twice girls up until very recently. And i'm not even talking about the US because that was never Twice's main market since they have always been traditional kpop  and not a western-centric like Blackpink. I'm talking about how 2/3 of Twice could have been so much bigger individually in the kpop sphere in Asia if JYPIG was smart enough to invest in their individual profiles early on. Anyway, whatever I guess.
