The Chase is a really great debut. Really great production on the track. I feel like they're gonna have a comeback really quick after this because this feels much more like a brief introduction. The MV is gorgeous, fantastic visuals. This is some of the best GG choreography I've seen in a minute. The blocking is excellent. Only problem I have with this group so far is I'm not seeing very much uniqueness among the members, like nobody clearly stands out. The song also doesn't have a lot to show off with vocally so I cant make a judgement on that point yet. 

Just listened to Butterflies by H2H. SM is fast tracking that Red Velvet disbandment this is a full RV track that got much more care on vocal comping an production than their recants have. This is so shameless genuinely shocked

They're on the schedule to have a comeback (2nd physical single album) in Q2 (April-June). We'll probably get late May/early April Aespa and then H2H in mid-June.

aespa are too artsy fartsy, too grand, too expensive and too talented for companies to try reheating their nachos.

 

Going for heehee's boring ass aesthetic is the safest route

I dont think anybody wants to recreate the ai debut because it's a gimmick that they couldn't follow through with. The Chase isn't an attempt at being maximalist just by being loud and that's ok. This H2H debut is a lot more musically out there than you wanna give it credit for. The chorus entirely being a bass drop with chromatic keys while they hit a hip hop adjacent chant. This is a very intentional subversion of the 'simple listening' trend that's been going on, and you can tell Kenzie is helming the ship. The shaking bass all over a track full of dream synths, switching to an acoustic guitar riff, the tight drum patterns. The vocal layering is immaculate, they let the adlibs float over the chorus and let it build to that ending with a beat switch.

The Chase would be a solid album track but as a debut its just so boring.. the song is a bit monotonous and its hard to find the chorus 
Also most of the girls kinda sound the same, when aespa debuted i could easily tell every girls voice apart.. but this has been an overall trend since Newjeans

Everglow's best song was zombie haters can seethe and remain tasteless

Love seeing a nice thoughtful review of a song.

Carmen so far is getting good responses and has a look that fits Korean beauty standards. How SM pushes her and utilizes her (and her fluency in Korean) will ultimately determine her popularity in Korea.

which is even worst as it sounds especially for foreign idols who don't fit their standards. They are only passable bc they look as one of them like where is the progress?

That's going to be literally everywhere and not exclusive to Korea. Every country has their own beauty standard. Asians can have a distinct look depending on the country they're from so obviously their beauty standard will be based off… their own distinct look. Like Koreans and Japanese look very different, it wouldn't make sense to have the same beauty standard.
 

Koreans will make the standard of beauty the most beautiful "Korean" looking face. That's just common sense.
