well you had I Got A God before it and as polarizing as it was, it was the first in the genre. Mr Mr is a bit tamer in comparison but those vocal climax elevated it  

I love that people just assume a girl be "shoved in the back" for being southeast Asian like… it's like a backhanded concern. 
 

Why not just hope she can break some stereotypes in Korea regarding SEA. People said the same about TWICE with the foreign members but Tzuyu and Sana were two key members for their popularity their peak years in Korea. Sana is literally the reason for their biggest hit. Stop assuming their career trajectory based on their nationality

We are truly witnessing a downfall in KPOP. Thank God we still have 3rd and 4th gen still having their own sounds and still carrying Kpop, cause this 5th gen era is not it and lacks originality.

 

I don't agree with your point but you reminded me that I actually don't like Eleven or Black Mamba THAT much. They're not bad songs, but it's the follow ups that really took the groups into stanning territory, at least for me (Love Dive and Next Level).

 

And some of my fav groups had super average debuts. fx had La Cha Ta and followed it up with Chu, both of which are kinda forgettable, and then went into showstopper Nu Abo the year after, and it was just relentless after that.

 

So I think even groups with mid debuts (eg KiiKii) might end up surprising us.

the biggest international kpop star that came out from the last gen is a Thai Woman and nothing has changed ever since.

Yasss gurl, Everglow had so much potentials and the songs are such a bop but the Yiren bowing scandal really killed their career with the long hiatuses. Yeah The Chase is a good song, but I know the harmonies and vocals would hit more as a RV track 

 

but on the flip side I don't know if I'd want them to have Cosmic now but it might have been a better fit

 

the B-side is very RV'd too and actually really good, SM raiding tf out their vault for these kiddies 

the lack of powerhouse vocals of H2H makes me missed taeyeon and wendy's godly vocals more.

 

you know its a legendary girl group if you hear them soaring all over the last chorus, whew
