Jokes aside, JYP was terrible with promoting and booking solo job or endorsement for these girls. Ryujin has so much potential to match other main girls from other 4th gen groups (Karina, Wonyoung, Chaewon, Soyeon, Haerin) but they gave her nothing

It's already confirmed to not be in the first quarter of 2026, so April-June is the earliest we'll hear it. Aespa are also scheduled for that timeframe for a full album, so I have a feeling we'll get Aespa pre-release in late April, album in May and then Taeyeon pre-release in late May and album in June. 
 

I just hope Taeyeon gets a REAL tour for this album. SM has realized touring brings real money so they've been pushing artists to tour more.

Chaeryeong has improved a lot, and she's now the member who's best at doing high notes, so it makes sense that she's basically been treated like a lead vocalist since 2022.

 

Anyway, I remember getting into K-pop in 2020 and how ITZY used to be top 3 in popularity among girl groups - just right after BP and TWICE. JYPE intended for ITZY to be a globally focused group and there were even articles saying ITZY could become the next big thing. Like the hype was there. 

They were definitely the global 4th-gen leaders during 2019-2021, and the fact that their title tracks debuted with over 1.5 million Spotify streams in 2021 is insane, especially considering how K-pop still hadn't fully transitioned to Spotify back then. They are also the only 4th gen girl group who has gold certified single in the US, and the only 4th gen act who has song surpassing 1B streams on a single platform so far (YT Music).

THEE biggest fumble in k-pop by a country mile. The girls are ridiculously charismatic and could be where aespa are right now. 

They really have an insane, star-studded lineup, and arguably one of the strongest in 4th-gen girl groups alongside aespa. Yeji, Ryujin, and Yuna used to be incredibly popular - almost it-girls, honestly. So when I look at groups like (G)I-DLE, LE SSERAFIM, and IVE, I can't help but wonder why ITZY just can't compete with them anymore, especially considering that ITZY's members were, on average, more popular.

I-DLE has YuQi who has China behind her, and is the member with the most endorsement overall of the whole generation. 

 

IVE has Wonyoung who has Korea behind her back and Yujin is not that far behind now that Starship decided to put her on variety. 

 

aespa has Karina, (but Ning Ning and Winter also) who is probably the strongest competition to Wonyoung as of now. 

 

Lesserafim had Sakura who landed the groundwork for the group. 

 

ITZY even when they had popular members these members had nothing to get a real engaged fan base. Every single members I named had solo work and solo gig to help them bringing momentum for themselves and their groups. 

 

ITZY had nothing, thanks to that JYP, Suzy trauma... And you can look at NMIXX the moment Haewon started to get the groups name out there, by going on variety shows by herself, they saw a HUGE increase of interest and landed a hit not long after. 

I honestly don't see any 4th gen group catching up and surpassing SKZ's overall global numbers from now on, as the gap is already too big and will continue to grow bigger every year.

They also have an online chart tool to let you see weekly, monthly or yearly streams.
