Twice/Itzy

LSRF/New Jeans

Thats not the issue

Those groups debuted on a very different landscape, when k-pop was still in expansion. This is not the case now. The success of those examples (which are the exception and not the rule) don't mean agencies could keep debuting a group after another forever believing the market wouldn't ever saturate.

Gen 2 landscape was as crazy as it is now and it was even more competitive with the many juggernauts that existed back then.   And how is LSRF/New jeans example old?  its actually after your G-idle -Litshum example. which is also not viable if u think that CUBE had CLC before floping and G-idle happened, so debuting a new group was actually the right choice instead of only relying in clc...

These exambles are the rule for the BIG Companies BTW its an exception if it doesnt happen... Its how the company stan system works.

Agencies keep debuting one group after another because they don't care about your faves, they care about profit. They know that a group's "peak era" lasts around 2–3 years at best. After that, the brand is still viable but never as explosive, and the members become more expensive to manage.  That's why companies constantly transfer fan attention to the next shiny debut and  it keeps the cycle (and the money) going. The older group gets quietly sidelined, not just because of waning popularity but also as a tactic to weaken their position for contract renewals. Most of the time, they'll keep one or two high-value idols and let the rest fade out.

It's calculated and fans eat it up (LSRF pun fully intended).

MIYEON :jonnyknife: what a comeback! I was worried she might serve the same bore as her debut solo but i was wrong.

Also I'm so ecstatic Hwasa got possibly her biggest hit after Maria :jonny6: Good Goodbye is so beautiful.

plzzzz this is sending me  *insert gif of Yawn removing her earpiece*

Another no encore win for Hearts2Hearts, who's the Sakura or Momo of the group omg, must be between Jiwoo, Ana, Ian or Juun, it's not only once, but TWICE, they also didn't do any radio show performance, the SM is not SM-ing :deadbanana2:

That's definitely part of the problem. K-pop was in expansion, so we kept getting more and more groups until there was no more demand for all of them. Like, what was CUBE thinking when they debuted Lightsum while i-dle was still hot?

This 5th gen was a mistake because they debuted when 4th gen groups were still at the top of the game. They had no one to replace! Now the newer groups struggle to get enough attention because people are already invested in the older established groups. And I learned HYBE is gonna debut another gg? This bubble is gonna burst

CUBE is a special case where the CEO and directors change like every other years. They have so many teams and managers but so few acts and or budget.

The director that debuted CLC is not the one that debuted I-DLE which is also not the one that debuted Lightsum, which is also not the director that fired the 2 Lightsum members.

So apparently, the rumor about Le Sserafim is nowhere to be found on Apple Music Global is a big fat lie? :deadbanana2:

LSF get lashed because their Spotify vastly outdoes their other stats.

Crazy

373M Spotify (track only)

329M YTM

20M Melon

5M Genie

Whiplash

308M (track only)

494M YTM

110M+ Melon

35M+ Genie

LSF are outdoing other girl groups on Spotify, but getting surpassed on YTM, Melon, Genie and Apple Music. Not throwing shade at the group, but HYBE are facing fraud charges for a reason.

EXO is probably the most sabotaged group ever. Like, what do you mean - they used to be SM's biggest act and the second biggest Kpop bg of all time, only for their own company to sabotage them? It started with the terrible handling of their military enlistments - it's been over 6 years, and their military era still isn't even finished. Then they sidelined the group for SuperM. Then came the lawsuits between CBX and SM, and it's just been one mess after another

Welcome to every SM act ever. They did it to H.O.T., S.E.S., TVXQ, SNSD, f(x) and Red Velvet. Sm purposefully torpedos groups to move fans to the next generation. It's why every SM fan is also SM's biggest hater.

We were so close to a full group comeback :rip: . Military done, and Lay is here. This is so bittersweet. I really thought SM and CBX would work their way out, at least just for this album and comeback.
Did they really try? We know how petty SM is. I don't even remember what the lawsuit is about.

ETA: Apparently SM is asking 10% share of revenue activities that hasn't been paid.

Anyway, sad the OT9 isn't happening.I will miss Baek and Chen's voices…

The reality is that their current label is probably already taking anywhere from 40-70% and now SM wants another 10% even for work they're not involved in. Hope the EXOLs light SM up.

Eh, i don't know, these allegation against Le Sserafim regarding Apple Music is nitpicking, Why do they only concern about 2024? Perfect Night and Antifragile doing well on every Chart including Apple Music, of course their chart run post Coachella will be low, Koreans literally hate them, and that's why Crazy tanked on Melon, Genie, and other Korean Chart.

By that logic, can we say that Rich Man and Dirty Work's Spotify numbers are fraudulent? Cause they recorded big numbers on Spotify but only 6-8 days on Apple Music?

Remembering the time ARMYs went insane because Jungkook showed a bit of tummy in the AMAs Fake Love performance. We used to be starving.

This was nice, I wanna watch the full thing now. Momo and Jeongyeon were amazing. Mina is so elegant even when she's fighting for life lol
