    A single massive girl group can only carry them so far. They threw out so much of the staff/idols that made SM a household name these past few years.

    The reports show SM actually made 3% more in revenue in 2024 compared to previous year. 

     

    So I wouldn't be surprised if the overall drop in operating and net profits is because 1. they are overspending on pointless projects (hey naevis, hey culture technology etc.) and 2. they are funnelling away all the actual hard earned coins from sales and touring (such as by aespa, NCT, RV etc.) somewhere else, so that they can reduce or avoid paying the tax on it

     

    We know they've done this before, except last time it was LSM paying himself into his own private company :rip:

    My guess would be that they wrote in a lot of their production costs for 2025 to make their operating costs seem higher and profits lower so they could pay less on taxes. It's also good for corporate buybacks on stocks and now they'll have a significantly stronger 2025, but the overall success of the artists won't be that much higher. Movie studios in the U.S. do this really well.

    LaLegend's performance in the White Lotus is getting good reviews :clap3:
