People are really trying to discredit TWICE and act like their success with KDH isn't truly earned. But the reality is, TWICE joined the KDH project without knowing how it would perform. First of all, it was an original media franchise, and not every soundtrack album is guaranteed to become a massive hit. In fact, the film initially used TWICE as the main selling point to promote itself, and nobody expected it to blow up the way it did. So of course TWICE deserve to benefit from the project. If the movie had flopped, people would've dragged TWICE for failing to carry the OST.

Now, if another group were to hop on the sequel's OST, then it would be fair to discuss whether they're benefiting from Netflix's success, since by that point the franchise is already established and huge.

In short, TWICE helped build and promote KDH, and the numbers they are pulling right now from the project is still their achievement and part of their career resume.

I haven't watched the movie yet so correct me if I'm wrong but isn't TWICE's Takedown not even in the movie and Strategy is for like 5 seconds? So I'd take any sucess from it as a good thing really since the children watching the movie are probably focusing more on the actual songs of the movie.

TWICE's Takedown is the first song on the album. Kids wont know how to differentiate between Takedown (JEONGYEON, JIHYO, CHAEYOUNG) and Takedown (EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, REI AMI).

YG should've gotten 2NE1 for it anyways. CL, Minzy, & Dara fit the three main girls.

You're underestimating kids. If that were true, then Demi's Let It Go would have billions of views. You clearly never been around kids if you think they wouldn't notice a difference in something they're fixated in. Of course TWICE is benefitting from the hype of the movie and the song wouldn't have streams it has if the movie wasn't smashing and maybe not as much if it wasn't the first track, but to say it's because kids can't tell the difference between the movie and TWICE's version illogical.

Twice's Takedown shows up in the ending credits and by that time the movie is already over and people are already clicking out. And while streaming the album, most kids will go straight to the songs that they heard in the movie that felt impactful to them with the storyline, which will include EJAE's Takedown over Twice's Takedown, so the track placement doesn't help much. And it reflects in the way how the movie version is outstreaming the Twice version.
Thus, Twice Takedown success feels impressive (or adequate, however you look at it tbh)

oh and lbr, people will know the difference considering how different the delivery/vocal tones are between the twice girls and EJAE & friends.

It does matter because kids wont know which Takedown is the one "from the movie" just by looking at names :michael:. Especially when the movie credit ends with "TWICE -  Nobody from the thread said it isn't a success - Takedown is their highest peak ever on Spotify. The movie was huge promo for them.

Twice probably couln't care less if the movie was a success, they did it for their quick check.

It's excellent promotion from their Republic Records team. They lined up KDH, a new album, and Lollapalooza back to back for them.

Which is why I go back to my post that being signed to a US label (not just a distributor) is v important.

Reminds me of this stage...where TWICE members had yelling men on their parts, but Red Velvet members had screaming girls...the crowd sound was so different depending on who was in focus :deadbanana:

This is so true 🤣 i went to see Twice back when they just put out Signal. And they had so many men at the concert losing thier minds. And I saw RV the next year and it's like thier whole fandom were just girls:deadbanana4:

The highest sales for a 4th gen girl group that debuted in January 2022 whose name starts with"Kep" and ends with "1er" :clap3:

And people kept doubting them :clap3:
