At the bottom list of her 2nd single rank, is "Perfume" really that bad? 

 

Pen by Sia and showcase Britney's vocals... Is the song really that bad or it is just overhated?

What are your thoughts on "Perfume" 

 

 

Yes girl, it's the absolute worst song in her discog.

The demo vocals controversy harmed the song a lot. When Britney Jean came out I didn't have a b!tch in my ear telling me how bad the album was so I was unaware of all the drama and I enjoyed the music for what it was. I remember liking Perfume a lot.

I never play it but it's a cute song, lyrics are **** though

I like it. It's not single material, but then again nothing on the standard edition of the album was after Work *****, so they didn't have many options. Its cute!

The song itself is fine, but it could have been executed better.

You know what ? Yes it is and it's not because of Britney but the song itself is sooooo bad. It's boring, the lyrics are ridiculous, the melody is weak af, the instrumental is nothing special, the theme of the song is cliché, the chorus is just annoying.

 

Interestingly I've seen some people that are not that much into Britney's music who said they loved it but to me it might be the worst song in her discography. 

Is water wet?

The song is a stain in Britneys otherwise strong set of second singles. And let's not get started on the parent album...

It's one of my fave songs by her

No it isn't.  She tried to give us true artistically vocals, a big 360 from the lead work *****.  She gave raw vocals and yall let it flop so stop complaining about her doing dance music with autotune.  If I was her I wouldn't come back to the music industry until given full creative control.  We saw what she was able to do with full creative control on Blackout, we need another project with her being the EP.

It wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't for some of the lyrics

Y'all doing too much and the song received so much unnecessary hate. 

Not Britney best but not her worst either.. Just changing the cringy lyrics and it be fine.

Not true... There are so many better song on the album, but her team of course gonna goes with ballads as 2nd single after received backlash of not much Britney singing in WB.

It's not the worst song in her discography at all, especially when Britney Jean as a whole exists.

 

But it's forgettable, plus Britney's not the kind of girl that excels with ballads. Although Everytime is the exception

Awful lyrics, awful production, awful vocal delivery from Britney and whoever sings the parts she didn't want to, awful music video. Just zeros zeros zeros across the board.

I think the problem is Britney, Sia's version is good, maybe Britney can't convey the emotion that the song needs  (or Myah or whoever recorded that song)

To add to this, the production is also not great, so maybe if someone else produced it it would sound better.

This was the biggest red flag indicating that she was making music against her will cuz who tf would willingly sing "I'm gonna mark my territory" 

For all those saying it's a terrible song, go listen to the unofficial Country Club Martini Mix and tell me it still sucks. Those remixers somehow got the original Sia vocals from the unreleased demo and mixed them in. 
 

If it were a Sia song, it would've smashed. You can feel the solemn pain in the vocals, like many of Sia's other songs she wrote in her prime back then. 
 

As for Britney, I think she did a great job. There is a lot less emotion in Brit's version, but we know why. Is it her best? No. But she does a great job and y'all are just being difficult because you know the drama behind the production. It ain't THAT bad. You act like the vocals are glitched like on Alien.
