i haven't listened to TTPD in full yet. i like a couple of things about it, but i really expected it to be her best album. i'm not feeling it as of now

For TTPD to be underwhelming it would have to mean I expected it to be good in the first place, which I didn't, but voted for that anyway since it's the weaker abloom.

i'm a swiftie and even i'm voting tortured poets- not because i don't like it, but i mean it felt like a recycled version of her old albums (albums i like, but nothing new)

 

cowboy carter is beautiful, and it doesn't need or deserve to be compared with ttpd

Neither of these albums is underwhelming. I think the vast majority of negativity directed at TTPD is a release of pent-up frustration with Taylor in certain highly-engaged groups like internet stans - it's fine if some people don't like the album, but personally I love every second. But I'll go to bat for Cowboy Carter any time, too. That's her best album in my opinion, and tracks like Daughter and Tyrant and Alligator Tears and II Hands II Heaven are essential additions to Beyoncé's discography and the current pop culture canon.

Both albums are definitely such a borefest. I got sleepy halfway with Tay and Beyonce new project  

 

I was like......Are these the albums theyre acclaiming? Oh yes i forgot its Beyonce and Tay. Theyre treated like Jesus today
Who has the patience for all those country-western songs? Only her loyal american fans i guess.

Both albums needed a trim. Are so bloated


I enjoyed Midnights and Renaissance more  they have more color and are less dense and still edgy.



The Ariana (Eternal Sunshine) and Shakira (Las Mujeres Ya No LLoran) are definitely more catchy and fun  
my fave mainstream pop releases from this year 
Even if theyre not "big artistic statements" as the others.  Just breakup-gettin over a breakup-risin from ashes records
Sometimes less is more. Sometimes we all just want some fun pop music and not a whole thesis

Nothing about Taylor Swift is experimental

I personally found Cowboy Carter a miss. There's a few great songs on there, but a lot of duds. It was sad to come from Renaissance which is her best work ever, to this, which is probably her weakest album since IASF. If Cowboy Carter was a 10-11 track album instead of 27, it easily would've been the better one. But there were too many unnecessary interludes, and the Jolene cover didn't do any favours.

But at least Bey tried something new
