The impact this album had on me as a teen is insane. I used to be a basic pop girl worshipping bottom who likes soulless dance-pop. Now I'm that but with good taste

I remember the first time I heard erotica the song 

And the first time I heard thief of Hearts I  something Gay overtook me

i actually think this album is overrated by fans. its definitely one of her best and easily my favorite era of hers, but the albums sort of drags on as you hit the middle and the last few songs. i wish she would've shaved off like four songs and it would've been on the level of COADF and ROL

 

overall, the videos are incredible, the tour is her best imo, and the impact this era had is unmatched

Why is Ray of Light more favored compared to Erotica album wise

A top 2 Madonna album. A classic. A masterpiece. No notes. No skips. Every track is simply indispensible.

I will always appreciate this era for giving us:

 

"I could take my clothes off and hitch-hike on the highway naked too, but does that make me an artist?"

"They shipped it but it got shipped back"

"How should I put this? Hmm. I think what I do has class to it...I'll say that"

I took years to get into it. truly the girls who get it, get it situation

truly a once in a lifetime era

I remember it as a comedown after her first four albums (I'm not including "I'm Breathless" as a studio album). I do think the "Erotica" album demonstrated artistic growth and I would probably have attached more shame to sex than I do if it had not been for the "Erotica" video and the subject matter of some of the album's songs.

Favorite Madonna album and era 

 

I did love witnessing this era cause despite the songs flopping, she was EVERYWHERE. And the videos were all top notch. 

 

But the album is over overhyped and overrated by fans. It's lengthy and a lot of the songs sound the same. Thank god she chose the right singles though!

its a much better album overall, from the songwriting to the production to her vocals. it presents such an incredible story of rebirth, motherhood, and spirituality and explores different styles within an already ecclectic electronica genre. it's just a step above erotica as a whole

 it was not an instant hit when I first got into Madonna but i've grown to love most of the songs on it. Thief of hearts > 

Thief Of Hearts and Words are the singles that should have been for me, I love this album so much but never play Secret Garden. 

I have hated it so much since album release.

The single run was perfect though

Truly revolutionary.

The title track is sl*t pop done right

Don't let them silence you! Why's It So Hard and Did You Do It? were NOT needed in this masterpiece.

 

front to back this is my fav album of hers, with (CONTROVERSIAL OPINION INCOMING!) Bedtime Stories as the runner-up  she just knew what she was doing so hard!

 

Deeper and Deeper will forever be both my favorite song and my favorite video of hers
