GH:MP was released at the dawn of the digital era and Britney's main audience had access to single downloads, so it didn't move enormous numbers like TIC, which is Madonna's best selling album.

Greatest hits sold more in the 80s and 90s because formats would change and so people would buy multiple copies, giving them tons of super strong catalog sales. The change from 8 tracks to cassettes to CDs to digital downloads give 80s artist a leg up on everyone in terms of sales.

 

OT: Only Like A Prayer wins for Madonna. Britney washed her in everything else.
