Very strong sales vs average tbh. Been a while since I last seen these numbers in UK. It probably would have at best debuted #8.

So … still haven't expressed my self on the song: I very much like it. Cool radio fodder which is what was exactly needed for her to debut with.

You can see, production wise, it's a song in her bag. Of course it's nothing groundbreaking, but if she decides to effectively push it in Europe I think she can gather great success with this. USA is of course out of the equation, but I doubt she cares about it.

The debut is a bit lower than I expected but to be honest I'm fully on board with her label clearly saving shipping for second week so that she doesn't suffer a major drop. This way she can also get more exposure and in this case I feel like radio payola will help (for DSN it was a different matter. Even though that was another one which shall have benefited a lot from that …)

The streaming numbers are the exact indication of the above: her pulling 130k-ish after one week during Taylor drop is actually very good. She needs to strike the iron while it's hot, unlike Leigh-Anne did.

Also I can understand most of y'all comments on the video, but at the same time … I don't: the storyline is clear and I think it's also very well executed. It's a video clearly catered to a wider audience (they knew what they were doing with some specific shots and I'm totally here for that - very appreciated), and I think it leverages on the subtle feel the song's about Zayn: all the camera recs are supposed to be memories from his ex, and also the tennis court scene with a long dress gave me the feeling she sort of wanted to create a tie with her being engaged to him (as if it was a post wedding memory). I may be reaching though, but at least that's the feeling I get also from most of the vague theme / storyline description about the song.

All in all, she is on the right track. Now I need Columbia to keep their game up - they did very well this first week.

I think it'll be a bit of an uphill struggle for this to climb to a new peak, to be honest. If it's already #1 on the AirPlay chart there really isn't any more room for it to grow, the aim now should be to stabilise streaming numbers and hope for a solid top 20 run for a few weeks. Spotify numbers aren't exactly free falling, but they're not climbing either.

I don't know, what does everyone else think? Is it too early to write this off as a #10 peak?

I'm honestly slayed by the video! I wasn't expecting that little choreo in the bedroom scene :heart2: it's beautifully done

she really flew to south africa to shoot this? this could have been easily filmed in the uk

I thought that was Ireland :skull:

She went to Cape Town.

I thought the video was cute tbh, nothing spectacular though x

Very underwhelming video.

I find all the shots of her ass pretty unnecessary.

Even on the "old camera footage" when she is going to grab a glass, boom ass, again for like 6th time in a minute.

Vibe reminds me bit of, however that one was aesthetically pleasing

it looks like some fairly rich person's back garden that could be anywhere but i don't begrudge her the holiday

i like the video actually, it's a bit low effort but she brings character and energy to it, assumed from all the comments it was barely scraping lyric video level

i feel like this might hang around, it's a fun song and spring's getting on, it's got that breezy pop/rock vibe to it. lot of competition in the top 10 tho atm and ofc next week will be rough

?

She probaly flew to Cape Town for a holiday and decided to kill two birds with one stone

glad she got a top 10! yeah i don't think it's gonna grow but hopefully a stable top 20 for a few weeks.

it's a cute song but i wonder if the issue was just that she played it too safe with this. her 2nd single needs to stand out a little more

Now this... this was a moment

my only complaint with the song is how slow it starts and how much of the song it takes to pick up

I hope she doesn't keep us waiting an eternity for single #2 because I'm not feeling this enough to get me through a 6 month drought lol

the extended version is so good :WAP:

totally elevated the song for me, makes it sound so much more complete

The lack of budget for her should be studied. It's like they seen Jesy & Annie go all out on budget just to bomb so they are taking a different approach.

Even the song production sounds cheap.

I'm glad she hit #10 but I am surprised it wasn't higher. I thought with her being the most profiled and popular member of the LM girls, she would steam roll straight to the top 3 or top 5 at the very least.

Why aren't the LM fans supporting these girls more?

I completely disagree? She's had plenty of promo, a lot of opportunities - travelled across Europe to promote this song on its release and week and celebrate with her fans. Shes also released 4 versions, a lyric and a MV and her team have invested in a lot of money in promo both radio and on social media and the songs been out just over a week.

Perrie is probably the reason why the MV is the way it is, she's the reason majority of her album was recorded in her house. We just need to realise that Perrie is going to do things differently because her priorities are different now.

The week she chose to release was very saturated. She did good numbers for a #10 but was unlucky with the competition.

As far as streaming goes, this is doing on more or less on par with what the Confetti singles were doing in the UK on streaming. The LM fans have moved on in the last few years so not all are supporting.

the video was directed by jake nava, first time i watch a cheap video production from him

I find it strange that between Leigh-Anne and Perrie they've both so far failed to book any UK TV live performances..

Like, not even The One Show?

This is really strange :skull: I mean, not even The One Show? Has Radio 1 playlisted any of their songs?

The UK music scene has always been a bit ageist and hasn't been very supportive of female artists once they move beyond their debut era. But considering this is still Perrie and Jade's debut era, I can't help but wonder what or who is preventing them from booking national television performances.

It is SO weird! Also why did Perrie's team not upload her performance on release day?! those views would have went towards the charts.
