Mimi really is a singular talent. She's the only popular female act I can think of that has equal exceptional skill in both singing and songwriting. Others that do both are are either pretty average a

Singing/dancing for a performer. Writing/producing if you're working behind the scenes.

I listen to music I don't watch it, I don't typically care about dancing/stage presence/theatrics/staging...

Depends.  Are you trying to make good music or put on a good show?

which one would you prefer?

if we're talking about pop music, we should normalize having all four. no reason not to be a dancer, singer, writer and producer with all the resources out there.

in any other genre i'd say songwriter/producing. we already have the best dancers and singers in the world (mostly in the pop world) so you have to show off those other skills otherwise what is it that you're bringing to the table?

All

this is why I like Kpop and Jpop, you can have them all  :clap3:

could you name which ones produce their own stuff?

Dancing doesn’t matter at all imo so songwriting and production wins by default but I place those two above all else anyway.

i'd say any artist can have one, both or none as long as they know what they're doing and their audience knows what's being presented

but in a musical aspect i'd say that as long as you're good in both then that works, but if you only have one then you must be fantastic to cover up the other one s:wan:

The #2 and #3 IFPI Top 10 Global Artist of 2023, Seventeen and Stray Kids :jonny5:

You can get other people to write and produce good songs for you but you can't get someone else to sing your music (unless you're Milli Vanilli).

That’s why we Stan a Group that can do it all

Sorta depends on the artist and the genre of music in my opinion.

thee legendary Hikaru Utada, LiSA for jpop

BTS, Seventeen, GIDLE are some of the names  for Kpop

My faves: Namie Amuro, SNSD, aespa ( writing credits ) :cm:

I would say the correct answer is

SINGING AND WRITING

Dancing is a plus

Producing is not necessary because they all need a true good focused producer for pop songs to shine

Depends on what kind of artist you are :michael: Both are important.

You can’t be a musical act with just writing and producing.

This is certainly a take.
