Lady Matilda was robbed of the English throne. Should have been England's first Queen. Elizabeth I's reign is fascinating - it's so ironic how badly Henry wanted a male heir when Elizabeth proved to be an even better ruler than him.

 

Was also recently reading about Empress Wu Zetian of China, the only Empress Regnant in Chinese imperial history.

 

Looking on to this century, we have a whole lot of heir apparent Queens Regnant who will ascend thrones of their countries in Europes last monarchies. It's a bummer England won't have another Queen for some time, but some of the monarchies in Europe will have their first Queens Regnant ever.
