Why did Charli D'Amelio flop?

Featured Replies

Charli D'Amelio blew up in 2019 as a tiktok star. 4 years later, her latest single flopped with 4 UNITS on the first week. Why did this happen?

I didn't even know she debuted. Tiktok followers truly mean NOTHING in the real world :skull:

You know exactly what happened :cm:

Same with Addison Rae

Because tiktok isn’t an actual measure of fame or popularity. It’s an echo chamber of people listening to short snippets of something. It doesn’t actually equal out to real fame or staying power. The same way that “influencers” aren’t real celebrities, tiktok “stars” are the same. The average person doesn’t know or care about them.

Tik tok is mostly fake and bots. The numbers never translate to any other place

Wasn't the other sister the "singer"? Diddy D'amelio or something like that

It’s a sappy song about heartbreak that that sounds like trillions of other mediocre songs with no distinction in her voice whatsoever. She should have just did a vapid, upbeat song that shows off her dancing skills if she wanted to garnish any sort of traction.

4 units like the number 4? Is that possible

Yup.

Charli blew up on Tik Tok in 2019/2020, but didn’t release a song until late 2022. Her less famous sister, Dixie, was more successful with her music because she released in 2020. Charli didn’t capitalize on the opportunity like her sister did

Idk but Dixie had a smash on her hands with this one

Much better than that One Day mess that went viral

don’t even know who this woman is, so that probably was the case with other people too x

She's not a musician.

The same reason a lot of child stars turned music artists don't do well. They don't really have an artistic vision or message. Having a following only can do so much

This isn't true.

I remember her sister Dixie's MV debuting with 12M youtube streams in 24 hours a few years back. Thats more than MPGs like Taylor, Gaga, Rihanna etc.

I also remember more people waited outside fashion shows to see Tiktokkers than they did for 'real' stars

4 units? That makes Holy F^ck look like a smash album. :deadbanana2:
