I thought it was an album but now I'm not so sure.

My sis @DamianSolo might have a point:

How is AGUILERA a compilation? It's 100% a studio album.

Because it's a compilation of EPs. La Fuerza, for example, was released as an EP in January of last year. La Tormenta was released in May, with the two EPs being combined and released as AGUILERA a day later. It's 100% not a studio album, even if it's presented as such. When AGUILERA very first released, it wasn't even complete until the release of La Luz.

Compilation when Little Christians want to defend it's sales :thing:

It might aswell be a mixtape considering how little they cared about it, they put some effort in the first EP and then they forgot a total project album even existed :swan:

Of course some of the ep's were released first, but it's still an album imo. What matters here, is the intention. I feel like compilations are always 'afterthoughts' in some way: they contain songs from different projects and those song were initially only meant for those projects. Aguilera, tho, was always meant to happen, they just decided to release the full project in parts, dividing it into ep's. Because those songs were always meant to be combined on Aguilera, I'd definitely consider it an album

It's a Latin Grammy award winning and Grammy nominated album. Some artists always have those. Some artists don't.

It was a heavily promoted album era — her team just fumbled the actual release of the album.

How dare you :bibliahh:

Didn't it compile previously released EPs? In a very messy way, but still. I think she views it as her 2nd Spanish studio album though, right? even if the rollout was a huge mess..

So I voted compilation, bc of the way it was released but does it make a difference anyway

Probably the messiest release ever! It's beyond me how Christina was doing long ass albums in the 00s when it wasn't needed, while for this streaming era album she did 3 separate projects (nobody cares about EPs) and then put them together :lmao:

It is album. The rollout remains a tragedy but the quality is absolutely insane. She needs those producers for her English album.

Intention matters very little, in such a circumstance, in comparison to the reality of what is. And the reality of AGUILERA is that two separate EPs were released before what we now know as AGUILERA was released. The contents of those two separate EPs were compiled to form AGUILERA; that makes it one single compilation of songs, from two separate projects, not a brand new studio-album.

When AGUILERA very first released, it wasn't even complete and had a relatively abrupt ending. The last EP hadn't yet released. It's a compilation built from EPs.
