Mental gymnastics like "solo #1" are worthless, as, for example, Beyoncé's latest #1 solo, Break My Soul, is outstreamed everyday by Gaga's Always Remember Us This Way, a non-single that peaked at #41

Spotify 08/06

ARUTW — 597,536

Break My Soul — 351,550

It's also being outstreamed by Beyoncé's latest entry on an IFPI singles list, Lady Gaga's Telephone

Spotify 08/06

Telephone — 356,080

Break My Soul — 351,550

they are worthless when they don’t play in your favor?

Stupid Love  - 69,925

album tracks:

Heated - 303,895

Alien Superstar - 281,736

America Has A Problem - 242,719

no need for Bradley’s $120m marketing budget film only to crash the next era a year later cause lacking solo power is not an issue for Bey even much later into her career than Gaga who everyone seems to agree is ranked last  :bird:

Rihanna’s currently outstreaming all of them sans Taylor by a large margin even though she hasn’t released an album in nearly 8 years, any list that has her below #2 is invalid. :bird:

Then if we take into account their achievements outside of music, the conversation becomes interesting. :bird:

Taylor

Rihanna

Adele = Beyonce

Gaga

Rihanna would be even higher up if she had been more active in the past 7 years.

Adele and Beyonce are much bigger in terms of touring so it's not that clear cut.

In music, Taylor is bigger than all of them. I would place Beyoncé at #2 simply because she’s a bigger touring force than Rihanna..

Outside of music and as an overall celebrity, Rihanna’s hold on the gp is unparalleled and she’s probably the biggest of them all (multiple multi-billion dollar brands, most viewed halftime in history, highly relevant with 8 years of no album etc etc)

for music success

Taylor: beatles- mj level. Her own league upon 2000s act so no competition

......................................................................

then

rihanna - the best gp generic 10 years of career  full of hits you can ask for

adele

gaga

beyoncè.

Taylor is effortlessly eclipsing Madonna and is on her way to eclipsing MJ and The Beatles. adding her to this list is ridiculous. :psyduck:

a telling metric of their success is their latest albums' opening week:

1. Taylor 1.5 million

2. Adele 839k

3. Beyoncé 332k

4. Lady Gaga 275k

5. Rihanna 126k

quite accurate.

all of them are pop Queens in their own right :worship:

why are we excluding touring as part of being "big"? That could easily put Gaga above Rihanna and Adele.

Gaga’s not the huge touring force her stans make her out to be lol

Definitely not big enough to place her above Rihanna or Adele (let alone easily), at least

when was their last solo #1 though?

Yes because Bradley Cooper was the real reason Shallow went number one... and we'll discount the fact Stupid Love debuted top 5 mere months before ROM dropped. :rip:

Lady Gaga had back to back number ones for both 2019 and 2020 and both songs were on HER albums. These 'bUt iT wAsn'T sOlo" comments are tired and nonsensical.

Anyways...

1. Taylor

2. Beyonce

3. Rihanna

4. Gaga

5. Adele

Adele is such an anomaly in this case... she undoubtedly has the biggest era here but she's a bit of a one trick pony. The others are a lot more versatile and have a lot more cultural capital.

Rihanna is the biggest and most important. Adele, Bey and Tay are in between and Gaga is not relevant at all.
