Is Doja the new Katy?

Featured Replies

I was just thinking the other day how Doja may be the new Katy in terms of career trajectory, here's why:

Amala/OOTB: fairly successful, does a good work introducing the artist to the GP.

Hot Pink/Teenage Dream: hits after hits, consolidates the artist and the GP loves them.

Planet Her/PRISM: another era full of hits, at this point it seems like no matter what they release, it will smash.

DC4/Witness: the artist starts declining unexpectedly and abruptly, short hair.

What do y'all think? Is this comparison reasonable? Discuss :giraffe:

Katy her impact? Hard to argue with the facts you've presented us with :giraffe:

Aren't Katy's fans called Katy Cats? That's a funny coincidence too.

Amala/OOTB

:rip: they are not even close. Amala is a huge bomb.

And both don’t seem to care about their fans too.

They may not be equally successful but I feel like people started to pay attention to Doja with Amala :giraffe:

They also both started really flopping after ditching Dr. Luke. But Witness at least had CTTR which went top5, Doja will be lucky to snag anything close to that this era at this rate.

She was just a meme until Say So.

As long as i dont like Katy you all disrespect the OOTB era, IKAG and Hot N Cold were huge global hits, WUIV did good , the album sold like 5M WW meanwhile Anala was just there :rip:

Maybe, but people were paying attention that's for sure :gaycat1:

Yeah I agree with this. The album sold a good amount, went top 10, and had two monster hits other girls would dream of. On top of that, it had another top 10 hit and a moderately successful single. I don’t know why it’s always being compared to straight up bombs :rip:

No. Katy felt bigger at her peak, Doja was at least a better performer.

OOTB wasn't fairly successful, it was hugely successful.  Debut single #1 for 7 weeks, Hot N Cold is Diamond eligible, WUIV was a Pop #1.  Huge debut album.

Planet Her is more of a Teenage Dream’s similar success.

Also, it has nothing to do with hair because Doja was sicked of wearing wigs to hide her huge forehead (she said this in an interview), while Katy did it for controversy after the CTTR’s failed No.1 debut.
