Just finished giving this another spin. What an album! I love how subdued a lot of the production is (I really hope she expands on some of the sounds like GOLDWING, NMR, and Overheated for instance); the melodies are great and the lyrics are more mature.

 

If only her team didn't botch the marketing for this album . This didn't deserve to underperform the way it did, and Billie DEFINITELY didn't deserve the weird Twitter/Tik Tok takedown she experienced all of 2021.

Tbf the marketing for HTE was terrible . The released the weakest songs as singles and while I love Your Power, it was not single material. Imagine if she restarted the era with the blond reveal and HTE as the new lead.

HTE, BBN, Therefore I Am, Everybody Dies >>>

Still a great album and an utterly enjoyable listen. Aside from TIA I pretty much love every single track, NDA, Getting Older, My Future and HTE being my biggest favorites.

The real ones were stanning in the HTE album thread all summer 2021

One of the best albums of the decade so far. The trip-hop/downtempo influences are such a perfect fit for Billie

not releasing oxycontin as a single especially since she still touring will always be a massive mistake 

Her critically acclaimed magnum opus - she said ART not CHARTS

 

Her "Under My Skin" - dark sophomore album masterpiece 

 

I remember the chokehold "Happier Than Ever" (song) had on me when it came out 

Some of my favorite Billie songs are on this album.

honestly yeah it's pretty great! Billie Bossa Nova, Oxytocin, Your Power, NDA, Therefore I Am, Happier Than Ever, Male Fantasy... all fantastic

 

the reason the era seemed a disappointment was the horrible single rollout. Oxytocin and Happier Than Ever should've been the first two singles (idc which order, either would've slayed). but you know what, yeah let's appreciate that album itself, it's a great pop record

One of the biggest examples in recent memory of ATRL forming an opinion about a music release solely based on its commercial performance. The album is nearly flawless and if it had debuted with 500K+ units in the US and had amazing longevity, everyone on here would be calling it one of the best albums of the 2020s so far.

Happier Than Ever (song) is one of the best songs released all time

One of my fave albums of 2021 Male Fantasy was everything to me

Despite the worst rollout ever it’s talent provided longevity 

 

Hate her team for ignoring BBN.

All killer, no filler

 

Also, The way it did good all things considering despite the smear campaign against her  Haters only say it's a flop becuz they keep comparing it to Sour

it’s a brilliant album. 

Yeah, it's a fantastic album. I thought that her debut was just okay with a small handful of highlights, but this HTE is fantastic. I only don't really care for TIA and Everybody Dies.

 

I do agree that the singles/marketing was totally bungled, but it was the CORRECT choice to save the slayage of HTE for the album release. They just shouldn't have had as many singles and pushed HTE the song MUCH more. Oxytocin or NDA as the "announcing the album proper lead" single, BBN if she wanted to have a slow song as a single, then HTE title track with the album (MF and TIA can stay the same I guess).
