Girl on Fire was the beginning of the end. I think she just didn’t continue with success after No One. Her songs didn’t have that feeling they did in the 2000s. 

Being labeled a homewrecker.

She relied on a big hits to carry her through eras and once they stopped coming her career faded.

She failed to adapt to the current music and she declined quality wise from TEOF to GOF. She is so talented but she lasted a whole decade and got them classic so the sis is fine.

Alicia should've been more open to new sounds. She tried to stay true to her artistry as a "piano pro" but the industry changes quickly.

 

I even imagined that during TEOF/GOF eras she was gonna pull a pop diva persona but at the end of the day that wasn't her thing.

GOF (the song) was a notable dip in quality and the song being a “hit” felt extremely forced. I’ve kind of forgotten to check with her since then. 

 

Her first four albums are CLASSICS though.

She had a good run, i think her time was just up. Same thing happened to Usher i believe, he was huge and now not so much.

It wasn't, ATRL is trolling as usual. 

The home wrecker narrative obviously had anything to do with it. I just think she lost the soulful edge and became very watered down and corporate friendly. She never reinvented herself or took risks. She also loves to think she’s a soprano singer when she’s not.

If she would have kept releasing bops it wouldn't have mattered. But it definitely wasn't a good look to be putting out female empowerment anthems like 'Girl on Fire' and then go directly into taking another woman's husband 

 

But the biggest factor was that she got pregnant which delayed the release of her new album by several years. And then dropped a lackluster album that was DOA by the time it came out. It was also 15 years into her career so it was just her time to flop.

- No Kerry Brothers Jr. (her most prolific collaborator)

- Moving from a big fish in a small pond (Clive Davis-helmed boutique label J Records) to a big fish in a massive pond (RCA - home to her equally-huge contemporaries Xtina, Pink, JT, Britney).

- Definitely moved toward writing camps (but with no proper album threading) which created projects that are not very cohesive.

- Movement away from stately, piano driven records, allowing her protégés to move into that lane (for example, H.E.R. "Focus", Jazmine Sullivan "Stuttering")

Yes. Back then Mashonda wrote an open letter on twitter calling Alicia out on being a homewrecker and her and Swizz Beats were going at each other online it was very messy   it was all over the blogs back then. Alicia even did an interview denying being a home wrecker.  Her core fanbase (black women) did not support her the same after this.

Baby, who is we? I’m not canceling her for it, I’m saying it affected her fan base. I don’t believe you can “steal” anyone from someone but her relationship with her husband started messy and for some it turned them off to her.
