Chromatica: Misunderstood Masterpiece?

Featured Replies

it's a good album beyond any doubt! My only gripes with it is that tracks like "Stupid Love" and "Free Woman" are lyrically dull and sound too generic compared to the rest of what it has to offer. Her second best body of work after TFM EP, which needless to say, remains unmatched to this day and showing no signs of age at that!

Not all. There are instances where a lead single ruins the albums perception but the album ends up being so much better than the lead single that it doesn’t matter (I.e., Lover). Chromatica however has no redeeming qualities. It’s garbaj all throughout

It’s a great pop album, but TFM and BTW are Gaga’s only masterpieces or near masterpieces.

I really enjoy the album. it reminds me of all that dance music from the 90s....But the production could go harder.
I love the album artwork :gayliecat1:

It's a solid pop record who embodied the 90s euro disco sound very well and if OGHs had the minimal musical knowledge they would get it

Also, reading them you would think it's a panned album when it got very good reviews and dont tell me about pOpTiMisM cause the likes of "Smile" were panned :deadbanana4:

It got several career highlights and amazing House/Dance tunes such as Alice, Replay,Babylon,911,Sour Candy  Rain On Me, Enigma which are true tributes to Euro dance and house music  :clap3:

An album with Replay, Alice, 911, Rain on Me, and Sour Candy can’t be a disaster the way some of y’all are making it out to be. :skull:

It's an understood vaudeville

:ahh:

I wouldn’t say it was misunderstood, but it had the potential to be much bigger if it wasn’t just dropped like an orphan at the fire hall door.

The single choices could have been better too, if she wanted to properly reflect the album.

It is what it is, and what it is is not everybody’s cup of tea, but I think it’s a fantastic album. Replay is the best song on the album and should have been a single, but I’m content with having it at all.

I worry the reception of the album will scare her into jazz forever tho.

It's a cute fun album but it is by no means a masterpiece or misunderstood album. It is her weakest album to date but I still love it and Replay is one of my favorite Gaga songs ever :flame: I do think for LG7 she needs to work with new producers. I don't mind BloodPop but he is her most manufactured and safe producer she's worked with. I don't mind a mindless fun bop here and there but I want her to work with producers that really "get" her like Mark Ronson.

It's not really misunderstood...

Haters probably do the most on it, its fine, but that's it really.
