It's definitely not a masterpiece, but it's legitimately very good and a step forward in how Gaga crafts an album after Artpop and Joanne. The fact that Pitchfork and Fantano gave it such earnestly good reviews says a lot, not this this site would admit it. I think time will be kind to it.

the whole era was done SO wrong tbh. frankly it IS a bit misunderstood, I feel like people were let down by the lack of certain idiosyncrasies one has come to expect from Gaga's music. but I think she channeled the Gaga-ness well, and in a more grown-up fashion, but not in a milquetoast way the way she did during Joanne. she struck a great balance. for example, all three music videos embraced camp, had queer undertones, melodrama... but the only really iconic fashion moment (arguably) was the red leather outfit in the 911 music video. everything else was not quite as remarkable as, say, the this  in the Bad Romance video or the this  in the Applause video. the Chromatica era didn't need all that. the lyrics are very introspective, and I'd argue the best of her career. her voice is as powerful and beautiful as ever. the melodies are great throughout the record (though I could still do without Stupid Love, 1000 Doves, and Sine from Above if were being honest...). I think if the era was managed differently (and the circumstances were not quite as dire as they were in the awful year of 2020) it could've been even bigger and more impactful in the long run. Alice REALLY was robbed of lead single status, I firmly believe it would've gone viral! there should've been more space between Rain on Me and the album imo, it would've smashed harder. Sour Candy was an OBVIOUS shoe-in for third single, and Kpop stans would've shot it high in the charts. don't know how well it would've done as a single, but Plastic Doll deserved a Barbie-themed pastel music video. 911 was a fantastic single choice, but Babylon would've arguably been even better. looking back on it, there's a lot of pop perfection there! so yeah. misunderstood excellent pop record is my verdict

still idk if I PERSONALLY would consider it a masterpiece, and i'm a stan. but its a solid dance pop album with some great tracks

It’s so insipid and lacks character. Anyone could’ve recorded those songs. A very vapid project

Fun record, but “masterpiece” is a stretch. I really like listening to it during quarantine but I haven’t had the desire to go back to it. Artpop is still a better record imo

It's a good pop album, but its not much more besides that, its got some highlights like Replay but besides that eh.

exactly how i'd describe it. and all this nonesense about 'it just wasn't promoted' is just like saying Gaga herself wasn't, the music was all over spotify/am/radio and the whole vmas slot so that wasn't the problem it just had a short shelf life being bop music and didn't hit the wider GP. Personally, as a white gay fan, i loved the album experience. Deffo had more potential tho, like SC Mv more ROM performances

The cohesiveness that that has the theme that that has the production and back to basics vocals that that has.,..

It honestly just sounds like a bunch of Ava Max rejects  and it has already aged like milk. It’s bad.

i love it and i think the concept is really interesting and super clever.

'Chromatica' doesn't need this delusional board validation especially when it comes for the same dull losers for being considered an excellent album.

 

It got 2 Grammys nominations and 1 win, good MC score despite certain trash publications run by stan twitter people that hate her being counted on it, 2 music videos directed by movie directors with one being one of her best video and the top of that she did a stadium tour when this site was claiming that the tour was just a scam that would have never happened and that she wasn't able to tour anymore, reaching the biggest audience and gross of her career per date.
