The King and Queen’s imperial pop phases. Which album is more remembered?

Probably Starboy as it has a current single right now, whereas the 1989 era ended in 2016

Doesn’t Starboy do like 2x 1989 daily streams? According to Swifties’ own logic, Abel clears :ducky:

Starboy is doing 10M? :deadbanana2:

Yes

End of discussion then.

Starboy by really far

1989 TV might get closer but Starboy will still probably do better in the long run.

1989. Nobody thinks about Starboy as an album. It wasn’t a moment like 1989 was

Starboy by far. 1989 is so overrated, Taylor has much better albums and eras, it actually made me unstan.

Not the haters denying 1989 power please :rip:

Starboy literally has a current single at #1 on radio right now and it was pushed on Spotify since its release it’d be kinda embarassing if 1989 was higher 💀

Die For You is kinda re-smashing and getting radio play, and Stargirl is the most streamed interlude on Spotify of all time! Thank you, Lana Del Rey, queen of alternative pop :clap3:

Starboy is doing 7m daily streams even without Die For You so clearly Starboy

"Starboy" is having an unprecedented resurgence right now, so it's rather unfair to compare it with any other older era. It's currently doing 10.3M daily streams, even ahead of 2020s behemoths like "SOUR", "Harry's House", "Future Nostalgia", and "Planet Her".

"1989" has 5.3M daily streams, which is excellent for a 2010s album. For reference, it's ahead of "Born To Die", "Doo-Wops & Hooligans", "Divide", "Hollywood's Bleeding", "Teenage Dream", "21", "Born This Way", and even recent projects like "Planet Her", Ed Sheeran's "Equals", and Bad Bunny's "YHLQMDLG".

"Blank Space" recently reached the 1B mark and has returned to the daily Spotify Charts, while "Wildest Dreams" got a lovely TikTok momentum awhile back. I'd say it's very well-remembered.

In terms of eras, "1989" was significantly more eventful too - one of the most iconic rollouts of the decade - but "Starboy" was notoriously poorly handled and filled with missed opportunities, so I for one am happy to see the general public fixing The Weeknd's mistakes.

If we based it off my opinion, 1989. But my bias is I don’t like The Weeknd’s voice. In terms of numbers he clearly is the actual winner.

1989 was literally a 2010s imperial pop era. It won AOTY, had a slew of heavy hitting singles, a huge tour, she was everywhere.
