Apparently Morgan Wallen's upcoming album will have a whooping 36 tracks with several pre-release singles and of course new singles as well  

 

That's like 3 times or 2 times the normal amount of tracks in a studio album, and an obvious attempt to scam the charts

 

Should Billboard put a limit in the number of tracks will be counted towards album SPS? Cuz i can see a lot of other artists will try to pull the same trick as well 

No, if they are going to allow streaming to make the chart, it shouldn't matter how many tracks an album has, if people stream it, it should count like every other stream does. If they are full songs and not dialogue clips or countless interludes some have used in the past to boost numbers, go for it.

Nope. People hate this because he can pull number. What Billboard should right now is to exclude songs that already attached to other albums like Abel "The Highlight" or when Dua stole Prisoner from Miley's Plastic Hearts despite being only featured artist. 

If anything , we should encourage people to be prolific.

I totally agree with this, if people are actually consuming the music, then who cares? All of ATRL’s pop girls release multiple formats of an album that fans buy over and over again, or relentlessly discount songs/albums, and even release “signed digital versions”  but when someone actually consumes a song, then it’s a problem. If your faves could do this, then nobody would complain.

Only chart obsess artists care about that. RIAA counts double albums as double sales, soundscan does not which is what billboard is using

Who makes cohesive albums any more anyway? It's all about streaming numbers at any cost, it's the beast that Billboard have made 

The time to take action against such was years ago, with Dua Lipa taking a whole new album's worth of material onto her ever-growing "debut".

Isn't the double album thing only for RIAA? You can stream the same amount of tracks in a week. 12 track album or 36 track album. The streaming unit counts the same?

 

If this guy is going to stomp with a 36 track album trust me he's going to demolish with a 10 track album as well.

I don’t like this guy but if he can pull it off then why not. I’m not opposed to my fave releasing 36 song because I know she can deliver both quantity and quality.
 

If chart obsessed artists would release fillers to boost their streams then that’s their problem. Anyway, if you don’t deliver quality, people won’t stream your songs anyway.

The time to take action against such was years ago, with Camila Cabello stealing Senorita from Shawn Mendes's album to fraudulently inflate her album's sales/streams

This is actually great because people receive more content. I cant at people only thinking about charts

There’s literally like 5 artists who can do this and actually have it make an impact

No. A lot of those songs barely end up being streamed anyway. The OCC implementing a lot of stupid rules is ruined the UK charts

I mean of course I wanna say yes cuz I hate Morgan Wallen and this is so obviously intentional to guarantee massive numbers but realistically how can they put a cap on songs counted on an album? If they’re all released as an album, how do they decide which tracks aren’t included? I think if anything, they could give bloated albums less weight overall when counting streaming points but idek how they’d implement that.

 

I guess when you don’t care about making good music though and your fans are brainless racists who will gobble up any fodder you throw out for them, you get the benefit of dropping nearly 40 tracks without concern for cohesion and quality. 

Doesn’t Taylor’s new album have almost THIS amount of tracks as well??

Standart version has 13 and Deluxe version has 20 songs 

 

OT : UK charts look like a mess so as long as there is not better solution 

The truth is the Billboard 200 in differnce to the Hot 100 is not a "popularity" chart so if the album is most consumed however that happens, is not Billboard job to "fix" it

What I do agree with is the greatest hits fraud should be stopped cause those are not real albums being consumed, songs should remain on the original albums they were released on no matter what

Hes not the first artist to release a multi track album 

 

Chris Brown released a 45 track album in like 2017 then Indigo has 32 songs

 

Zayns Icarus Falls was 29 songs

Donna was long too

Red TV is like 30+ songs etc etc

If the album is not good, the streams will reflect that. Outside of stans who will literally play the songs over and over to help the streams, this will be much ado about nothing.
