Katy Perry was on top, what went wrong?

From having Multiple Number Ones to not making any noise….Is she a bottom now? Is Orlando Bloom to blame?

Is she giving up her music career to be a TV Star now thanks to Lionel Richie?

Never get into politcs or show you're on someones side in America, especially if you are a female pop star with a fickle fan base. Hilary Clinton ended Katy.

The hair, the bizarre promo, the poor-quality Max Martin songs on Witness, ageism

It was the haircut x2.

Her stunning black long hair had all her power in it without her realizing it. A tragedy really.

Cutting her hair, getting too political, her behavior in 2017, waiting too long to release music and yes, the music also wasn't as good as TD/PRISM so maybe it was Dr Luke indeed...

Katy didn’t exactly grew a strong fanbase and relied way too much on the general public. She depended on hits in order to have public interest. When she stopped bringing them, the public left her behind.

She also left her “dream team” and completely changed her formula + image, she was the one that suffered the most without Luke. She later tried to bring back her “older” persona but it was too late.

No shade but also Katy is not that talented to bounce back in other areas such as acting or to switch genres and try something else aside of pop. She was pretty much stuck in this box and there was nothing to help her out.

At the end of the day she got lots of money from her back catalogue + AI + Vegas so she ended up fine herself, regardless.

Witness era was too much cringe from the woke mom to the fidget spinner and dabbing to the haircut and that live stream. I just can’t, the muscles around my nose are contracting.

The industry (people writing her songs or handing her hits) abandoned her. She was nothing besides her hits, meaning all her #1s were supposed to become #1 regardless of who would sing them (for the most part).

- the Ellen hair - sex appeal was a huge part of her image and it disappeared

- almost a 4 year break - Dark Horse was her last hit released in Dec 2013 and she underperformed 2x since

- Chained to the Rhythm was not catchy at all - it lacked a hook that many of her classic bops had

Interesting because Firework and Walking On Air (:chick1:) are her biggest hits.

never thought of this take…. this is actually so true. :chick3:

she was leaning too far into corny cringe (birthday, disease) it wasnt really working for her when people thought she was hot and then she cut her hair

I remember being HORRIFIED at the Birthday video. The absolute insane amount of cringe it was. No idea why she decided to become completely camp and ditch the sex appeal.

She was never destined to last long, but bullying Taylor was the final nail in her coffin

  • Made enemies with the 2 biggest female pop stars in the world with the most dedicated bases, who largely still bully her and her fans to this day over fights their own favs picked and not Katy.(Taylor and Gaga)

  • Murdered her previous image of hot boob lady with nothing going on in the head(this was never true about her but she didn't fight against that perception until it was too late, and she did too much at once with the haircut, politics, and revealing she was completely self-aware of how campy/cringe she was being but doubling down on it to save face)

Those are the only 2 reasons. Her singles output has been consistently great since her debut.

1. No Bonnie McKee, No Luke, NO hits - she's just not talented enough to make a success with other people without those two, firework was a fluke sorry.

2. Killary Klinton, and more recently supporting Republicans like Caruso

3. fake, self-serving, virtue signal'd Woke Pop

she started making stupid decisions during prism. the birthday and disease single rollouts were embarrassing and pretty much killed the prism campaign. then she took too long to release witness, became overtly political during that time and killed her sex appeal.

The simple answer is bad music and forgotten about after a long break. She wasn’t missed and was easily replaceable.

first thing, a decline was always going to come once she was almost 10 years inside the industry, it happened most of the big stars(madonna, mariah, whithey, britney, christina, nicki).

the end of prism she was starting to lose ground but it was pretty much normal after 2 huge smashes, however it started the negative trend. releasing rise was a mistake, it did nothing and killed a lot of the hype. then she came with a haircut that people just didn't like, and a song that wasn't good enough to lead an era.

after it the hate train just started and second single was pretty cringe, third one was better but the damage was done at that point. she also had feels which did great but she didn't capitalize on it's seccsus.

after the era i just think she started not to care as much as she used too, NRO was probably her last chance to a proper comeback but it wasn't as pushed as it should have been.

after it she became prgenent and did nice shows in vegas, but she mostly moved on so we should too
