Giving Me Life still well, gives me life. That song is just amazing. Such a mystical vibe to it. There is something you can't resist. The production, the vocals, everything.

The way she released two of her best songs of her entire career, 30 years into it.

And yes, we’re talking about 8th Grade and Giving Me Life. I genuinely can’t comprehend how this album is 4 years old today. It feels like just last year. It’s still so fresh and so on trend but innovative. Her second best :jonny6:

I rediscovered this back in Sep and it's had a chokehold on me since. She needs to let go of the Christmas stuff already since it'll always smash, and work towards a proper follow-up.

Ooh shots of remy, playing Confessions and our bodies blending:jonny5:

I was shook when I first heard this. The singles were cute, but nothing could've prepared me for career highlights like Giving Me Life, 8th Grade, One Mo' Gen, Portrait and the title track. It was modern without being desperate, traditional without being stale. She 100% did THAT. :jonnycat:

I remember being blown away listening to the album :jonny:

The effortless blend of a classic R&B sound with modern alt-R&B production.

Giving Me Life, 8th Grade, and The Distance are career highlights and she did it  near the end of her third decade. The album’s acclaim was so well-deserved.

It baffles me how she sometimes criticizes this record because it's literally perfect. I still think they could've chosen different singles.

This is her best album idc. It doesn't have too many songs on it like her previous albums in the 2000s. It's short and serves quality.

Yes I came to say this. A career highlight and completely unexpected. One of my favorite Mariah songs of all time.

seriously one of her best albums :jonny5: every song is 10/10 imo

With You, Giving Me Life, The Distance, and One Mo' Gen are literally perfect

happy anniversary to this gorgeous album. a triumph. her most acclaimed album and loved by fans. beautiful photography, great music, music videos. i own like 15 copies of it across every format in existence. life has changed so much ever since it was released

One of her best and one of my faves, deserves way more praise such a good album

“8th Grade,” “Caution,” and “Giving Me Life” among her 20 best songs ever :worship2:

so when everyone here is claiming that GML is this uber-masterpiece then why does it have so few streams?

Stream it, do what's right. I have played the song nearly 2,000 times since 2018 as tracked by my LastFM account.

GML and The Distance are two of the best songs ever.

It’s Heaven sent. Her best work in a long time. I’d honestly rank it at #5 or #6 in her catalog for me. For a legacy act to come back with such a cohesive, fresh body of work that has replay value isn’t always the case. Mariah did that.

she really stepped up her game again with that. some timeless vocals/productions here that remind me of her best work.

She truly did. Such a queen. :clap3:

I keep saying she needs to let Dev Hynes produce her next album.
