I think she is close into becoming one but not yet. Maybe with one more era or two.

Naaah. She's an icon but that's it. I'm not sure if she'll ever be a LEGEND. It takes more than comercial or critical success to become a legend.

Easily. I personally think the Folklore/Evermore era and Red TV cast out any doubt about that. It wasn’t a sure thing before then, but I don’t think we even need to think much about it now - particularly in the US.

What's left that she hasn't achieved that would make her a "legend" aside from time and not being an actively successful artist? If Taylor swore to never put out music again on October 22nd 2022 (right after Midnights nnn) she would absolutely be considered a legend given her utter domination of both critical and commercial success, and her overall societal impact.

 

I know that society has an issue recognising people for what they are while they're still going, but Taylor is absolutely in the Legends tier, and give it 5-10 years and she'll be up in the top, top, top end of the Legends tier as well. 

She's a weird case because she has the commercial domination but hasn't ever pushed the envelope, culturally. I'd say she's an icon rather than a legend.

She has become a legend ever since she won AOTY for 1989.

If she is not a legend, neither is your fave

she sells a lot and is a prolific writer, but she isn’t a legend. An icon at best which is still leagues above certain girls like Dua, X, foxy, Meghan, and the other girlies who have no industry pull.

nobody cares about Barbra Streisand in Mexico and she remains a legend

Idk if she could be considered one yet. Just like someone pointed out, fully recognizing someone's importance is complicated when they are at the top. I mean Taylor is still dominating now so it feels like she is still building her legacy, even though she already accomplished so much. 

 

Some comments claimed she has no impact. Ever since the Apple Music letter, she has been fighting for artists within the music industry, regarding their recognition, acknowledgment and compensation. She's raising a lot of debate around owning your masters, especially with the re-recordings, which will help newer artist to own their work. Finally, her influence on the new generation of artist, and especially the biggest new female artist (Olivia Rodrigo) cannot be ignored. This is impact. She might not have impacted your own life (and even that is arguable, seeing the effect of her asking her fans to go out and vote had), but she's been very important for artists. 

 

Finally, she has the industry recognition, and top tier critical acclaim. Her 3 AOTY achievement is no joke. She is regarded as one of the very best songwriter of our generation. Her name is going down in history, whether you like it or not.

She’s one of only three women who can perform in stadiums consistently, in multiple different continents. The answer is a resounding Yes.

I think she’s become very overrated personally, but anyone saying she isn’t already a legend needs to get real. She’s the biggest female artist of the last 20-30 years since Madonna and she could even potentially be the biggest artist of the past 20-30 years, period.  
 

Even in my personal life around people who barely pay attention to other music, she has a massive chokehold over the public. I don’t see any other artist get so many people excited irl with her every move.

Her success is undeniable but it doesn't feel like she's iconic or legendary. She lacks that charisma and aura true legends have. She doesn't have it. She's also a non-factor where I live. So no.

I lowkey think people make threads asking if she’s the biggest artist or a legend, etc. at this point in hopes most of the responses are “yassss queen you are THEE music industry”. It is stating the obvious that yes, she is.
