On which album/era did Taylor almost lose her Main Pop Girl stature since solidifying it on Fearless?

Lover is a huge record. She did not "recover" from it at all

It never hapenned.

 

She wasn't an MPG (in the ATRL definition) during Speak Now.

Folklore was her 3rd imperial phase.

Evermore was just the cherry on top of the cake that was Folklore.

 

Lover could have been the start of her releases becoming less eventful, but Folklore quickly corrected that. And even if that reinvention had never hapenned, her fanbase would still be big enough keep her career afloat (see: MJ in the mid-90s, Eminem post-Recovery).

Never happened.

Never tbh.  I guess you could make a point for Speak Now since it didn't have any crossover hits close to Love Story and YBWM, but it still had massive sales.

she has always been pretty stable, i don't think something like that happened

First she'd have to actually fail

Never even close.  All her Eras have crossed (or on track to cross) 10m units.  

With Meh! Not because it was an underperformance (it wasn't) but because it sucked 

Never but she was trying her hardest with the Lover singles 

There’s never been anything close to that “almost” happening for her and you know this lol

Definitely around RFI and End Game. Radio callouts were terrible, the public got tired of her bad ***** persona post Look given how polarizing her songs were, she was becoming a very generic eurodance girl with the 2nd and 3rd singles of rep.

 

Delicate really saved her that era. She was struggling to crack Top 10 too and RFI barely made a dent post release.

Definitely Speak Now.

 

If she hadn’t recovered and gone more Pop with Red, she would have been like another Shania Twain or Faith Hill in terms of pop success, where they only had one album with true pop hits. 

When WWAFA was released

 

I don’t think ever. She has been the biggest artist for like the past decade. Even Speak Now was massive. Every era is a million + seller or has multiple hits that have lasted for several years as staples.

Well 2011 remains her weakest "active" year (2016 was her off year) so I think Speak Now.

 

It's her first year not to have an album in the top 10 best selling albums (Nielsen tracking i.e., Jan-Dec), I think Speak Now was like the 13th best selling that year or something.

 

She also experienced radio burn out in country airplay; her first three tracks failed to top Hot Country Songs and god I remember how frustrating that was. "Sparks Fly" finally gave the album a number one track but it was a weak number one ("Ours" is a bigger country hit)

 

She have her first flop pop single with "The Story of Us" - missing the top 20 in Pop Charts and top 40 in Hot 100.

 

Her highest track at the year-end chart is "Back to December" at around number 72, her lowest at the time. I think it's her only track in the top 100.

 

She was completely shut down in general field at the Grammys, but good thing "Mean" won two Grammys

 

Speak Now World Tour is big though, so that redeemed the era.

She never "almost" lost her status, and this thread is dumb

Honestly never… other artists would kill to have Taylor’s weakest years/eras. Even when she’s “losing” she’s winning. 
 

Despite her career dips she has always been a top artist in the industry. She has basically never come close to fading away (especially in the way she talks about how she expects her career to fade). 
 

To those saying Lover could have started a downward trend, I point you to it’s stability on the BB200 the past 3 years. Even if it was mishandled, clearly the gp ate it up and it was NOT in any way a trajectory towards losing her mpg card.
