OTHs waited 6 years for Adele to release because she’s the only female artist on/above her level. They were so ready for her album to smash and dwarf Taylor’s recent efforts because they were sickened of their own faves’ failure to come anywhere close. So they adopted Adele as a temporary replacement and hid behind her avatars to drag Swift at every opportunity. Swifties did not like this and - let’s be honest - many were threatened. Cue the bitchy was on both sides for a few months.
 

Fast forward, Adele’s album underperforms hugely (obviously it’s not a flop by anyone else’s standards but going from a 3M opening week to a 800k with bad longevity) and the Adele avatars are suddenly nowhere to be found. Swifties are sadly relishing in it now… but they weren’t the ones who started it.

The more interesting and appropriate question to ask is “Where have all the Adele avatars gone?”

Swifties are very defensive and Adele "fans" were really brave during the whole RedTV/30 release claiming that Adele was the "real music industry" or whatever that is, so now that 30's success has shown itself to be kind of a fluke, swifties are bullying Adele and her "fans". I am a Taylor fan, but I know swifties can be the worst type of bullies. It's all just for fun.

If you think people were genuinely waiting with bated breath for Adele JUST because there was a chance she could overtake/dwarf Taylor…  Adele is one of the most popular acts in recent memory who was returning after a very long hiatus. Her fanbase is huge, it’s not some covert conspiracy operation. Swifties conflated her popularity as some sort of challenge to Taylor’s and began dogpiling when 30 wasn’t putting up 21 or 25 like numbers, like they do with literally every female artist on this site.
