Nope, Canada is indeed much colder than the Balkan peninsula. It starts snowing from December/January.

    Most of Canada doesn't actually get snow that early. Parts don't see snow at all even.

    Here we don't have traditional seasons. It can be 20C in January and snow in June. It's an odd climate.
