I fear one of the biggest problems is her just not ******* with any new music or new artists. When she was on that Kai Cenat stream and they asked what new rappers she liked and she didn't have an answer that was a huge red flag

She's supposed to be the hip hop Stevie Wonder like that's how she's stayed fresh for decades...instead all she could say was idk no one really....maybe A Boogie? Like what? Mariah have you never heard a carti album?

A part of my gay I can fix her dreams still believes that she needs to get more Jazzy with it, lambs will groan but I'm not talking about the ballads and standards (I wouldn't be mad at that though). It's provided so much of her music edge and instinct. The Giving Me Life chords that had Blood Orange gagged probably came right from her Jazz upbringing.

And it's like the most expansive genre, all the haunting, mysterious, psychedelic experimentation is all there waiting for her

I also wanted her to do a year long residency in an intimate NYC Jazz Club with phones banned so she could regain not just her confidence but the fun in singing live again. That's over though since she said **** New York and moved to LA so it is what it is. At the very least she needs to do it for me and @conatus Like Summertime from either Sam Cooke or the Ella and Louie original, A Night In Tunisia.... the Giving Me Life foundations right there probably

I agree with all this.

Plus, people seem to forget 2 things: the music industry has changed completely (especially the rap/hip-hop side of things). We are talking about someone who has been in the game for almost 40 years.

Maybe her taste just isn't really phuckin' with the new kids? She has the right to not feel inspired at all.

And last but not least, some of y'all forgot Mimi is approaching 60. Yeah, we have other big stars that are older than her and still showing innovation, but artists/people are different and we have to accept it. Not everyone and their mindset will age the same. And clearly she is struggling with her health as well.

She doesn't need to prove anything to anyone anymore. She's a legend and no one can take it away from her. Mother has worked her butt off and has given us one of the best discographies among the MPGs....

I'm just happy she seems somewhat well and not around vultures like Stella. I really can't expect what she use to serve in the past in terms of innovation

I finally watched Glitter in its entirety

It's definitely not a strong film and Mimi is pretty wooden, but it's not the worst thing in the world. Cute little movie albeit very cliched with some weird editing.

A grittier script and a better co-lead would have done a lot for it.

Soundtrack remains incredibly ahead of its time and one of her best albums. I'll die on that hill.

The 6 singles for Here For It All were super poorly picked imo LOL.

I think Mi should have been a single, the album should have leaned more towards this slick production as well. In Your Feelings and Sugar Sweet could stay singles as well. The rest of the radio singles could still be promoted later, but I think the album would have def benefitted with Mariah talking her ish as the lead single with Mi

It was a slow climb, but The Distance is currently my favourite Mariah song.

It features he best vocal run/melody? Idk the correct musical term but at 0:28 when say sings the word no.

I have been repeating that part nonstop today.

I listened to Music Box in full for the first time last night and.... To say it didn't click is an understatement.

I only knew the two classics Hero and Without You, but I wasn't really hooked in by the rest of the tracks unfortunately. The b-sides devour the standard album, especially Do You Think of Me.

The remixes were cute, hopefully they pop off more next era.
