She sounded better than I expected for a studio show and I'll take that.

I'm diving into Mariah's discography and my god, the QUALITY   I've always loved the big hits but I had no idea how good her albums were

  • I honestly thought she'd never release new music again

I'm sorry but I did laugh

The backdrops were giving “graphic design is my passion” :rip:

She’s in entering her “older ladies of pop/R&B” phase unfortunately. No new proper eras or tours, just will “tour” a couple casinos and amphitheaters every year under slightly new branding doing the same setlist with the same arrangements or maybe a joint tour with someone from her era like Boyz II Men. Maybe a new album occasionally still, but even then she’ll at most like add the single to the setlist for a few months before dropping it forever.

Its very sad actually. She's one of best pop vocalists of all time. It shouldn't be so hit and miss everytime she sings live. :rip:

Is that post true that Mariah said she is retired from recording and only going to make 1 album this decade? :weeps:

Honestly she should retire and spare us her tragic live performances. Either become fully a studio artist or just stop.

Not her slaying that impromptu before One Sweet Day. :toofunny3: Her concerts should be just that, a piano and just her improvising new songs on stage.

Also, she should work on new ways to sing the difficult parts of her songs... Like, girl, a vocalist is not only someone who sings ridiculously high notes, it's also someone who knows their limits and how to use their instrument efficiently.

That's what she struggles to understand. She can still do amazing things with her voice singing in a comfortable register.

Also, she often lets the stress get the best of her. She can do great during rehearsals then struggles during the show. And when it happens, she gets more nervous and her vocals get even worse. :gaycat6:

Yeah she didnt sound as a bad as the citizen concert, but her improvision part sounded so good wtf?

She should embrace her current voice and rearrange her songs so she could sing all of then with ease. Bon Jovi did an Unplugged not too long ago as a legacy act with limited range and it worked for them.

Her improvs are still on point so we know she could still pull it off. But I get her dilemma - her brand is around being a superhuman vocalist who can hit high notes and runs - and if she rebrands to being not this type of singer anymore then what is she?

What makes me kind of nervous is that she can't even like sing speak without her voice breaking or cutting off? But her tone is so damn good right now?

But before covid her tone was kind of eh, but she was able to sing verses well. I dont mind having lipped high notes, but her not being able to get through a verse or chorus is interesting, thinking her voice would have healed more during 2020-2022

He about to swoop in and steal her masters.

I wish he would so they’d be put to use

Honestly, that's what I think is the main issue right now, she keeps pushing herself way too much to be as good as she was during her prime and that's just simply not realistic any more. Her vocal nodules play a huge part in whether or not she'd be able to control her voice as much as she wants to and for that very specific reason, a new vocal arrangement could do wonders for her.

She didn't sound bad in my opinion last weekend, could've been better? absolutely but it was an entertaining performance nonetheless and she still pulls in a massive crowd regardless but honestly, it's not sustainable for her to keep pushing herself or living up to her prime standards when she can do something different vocally.

@suburbannature she kind of served here. She didn't lie when she said her voice is in the best shape it has been in a long time. :bibliahh:

This show is gonna be a mess, so it makes sense she was thinking about Moo.

I love her improv moments.

Thank God I Unclogged My Poo is actually underrated. It's a cute little ballad that gets too much hate

She should just embrace her current voice and rebrand. We’re not in the 90’s anymore anyway, when superhuman vocalists were all the rage.
