I know chart peaks don't matter in the long run but it's really annoying how many of her albums and songs got blocked from #1. I mean The Immaculate Collection getting blocked by Vanilla Ice alone... rip

We need justice for Frozen and Cherish chick3

I think it's more impressive knowing that people had to go to the store to buy the singles, as opposed to releasing dozens of ugly variants and coercing your fans to buy them through the parasocial relationship you have with them to force songs to #1

My whole Madonna kick recently was kind of inspired by my own mom. She hasn't been doing so well as of late, so I've been feeling nostalgic and thinking back to her listening to Live to Tell (her favo

This year started off really strong for Madonna I fear.

-La Bambola.

-Like A Prayer with Heated Rivalry

-Like A Prayer with the Winter Olympics

-Vogue for Devil Wears Prada

-Thief Of Hearts

I think things are being set up nicely for her comeback, IMO she's in a much better situation than in 2019...but we will see.

(I'd love people to embrace her other songs as well xx)

I looked back at the months leading up to the MX release and in January 2019 it was the 'butt implants' controversé. In February 2019 she posted pictures in the studio with Maluma. The older gays were melting tf down

Older gays know no fun tbh. Medellin and BIL are good songs.

The entire year before Madame X she was also ended by the Aretha "tribute" so far we haven't got anything damning like that...she should be alright.

Yeah, but that was only in the US. For example, TIC kicked Elton's GH's off #1 in the UK and it stayed there over Christmas for 9 weeks. (Which is probably one of the reasons he dislikes her so much). rip

I fear you may be onto something

News:

Madonna is in L.A., also her stylist, make-up and hair stylists as well

Photographer Josephine Meng who started following Madonna on IG this week is also in L.A

Director Jonas Akerlung was shooting some project in L.A desert as well

So potential video shoot / photoshoot in works

I don't know sis

I don't want to seem too pessimistic but I am not expecting much from this upcoming era (commercial success wise, I know the music will DEVOUR). I feel like we're not in a cultural climate for people to start really appreciating or "understanding" Madonna. I'm just eager to hear new music from her jamming

I might be delusional but I think it'll do better than her last two eras at least.

Streaming seems to be more favorable in terms of success. Pop music is in such a better place compared to pre-2020 and I see a lot of people rediscovering Madonna.

If the song is an undeniable banger with a good video/performance, and some good social media strategy, it might be received quite well

I think her absence will help her since she's been shown lots of love by younger generations compared to 10 years ago. She's had a lot of exposure due to her classic catalogue.

Any particular ones?

Miles Away is probably one of my favourite songs (maybe ever), so I feel like it'd be hard to top the original

Such A good song. Wish it was on Hard

Crazy For You playing at my work really reminded me how her idiosyncratic tone and delivery took what could have been a generic HAC hit and made it her own. What a tasteful way to put the Minnie Mouse allegations post-LAV to rest and to set the GP up for True Blue

Yes I agree. Gen Z seems to her like her more than Millennials ever have.

I dont agree with this, i think many millennials acknowledge her success and input while many Gen Z are ignorant to anything which happen before they were able to speak

I only see young people post about her positively on social media, never someone who looks 35+. Gen Z is known for being extremely nostalgic and obsessed with the past (even periods they didn't experience directly). It's called anemoia.

On the flip side, it was the millennials in the 2010s (when they came of age, started having economic power and access to social media) who were (and continue) to call her old/flop/desperate. They're the ones who would say (and still say) that Gaga/Katy/Kesha were the new queens of pop while Madonna was forgotten. Gen Z on TikTok appreciates ***** I'm Madonna, Milennials called it desperate.

EDIT: I also think we can see this by looking at the celebrities who recently praised M. Lots of Gen Z stars like Addison Sabrina etc are always praising her.
