I gave Erotica another go despite only loving Erotica, Deeper and Rain beforehand. And I'm obsessed with it now and think it's one of the best albums I've ever heard.

My favourite at the moment is "Waiting" - the bass line and progression throughout the song is excellent and makes me feel like the main character. The attitude and energy in "Thief Of Hearts" I also adore ("b!*ch!")

Thank god you found the light :clap3: Definitely my favorite Madge album

My whole Madonna kick recently was kind of inspired by my own mom. She hasn't been doing so well as of late, so I've been feeling nostalgic and thinking back to her listening to Live to Tell (her favo

I'm gonna embarrass myself for a moment: I've struggled to connect with Madonna's discography as a whole outside of the singles and a few deep cuts despite being a fan for most of my life. The only album I truly connected with for a long time was Confessions and I love most of Ray Of Light and Rebel Heart. I think my favourite thing about Madonna is her live shows - she has created some of my favourite live shows ever (and thank God she always records and releases them!). I've always loved her singles discography too and it houses some of my favourite songs ever. So in preparation for The Celebration Tour, I gave Erotica another go despite only loving Erotica, Deeper and Rain beforehand. And I'm obsessed with it now and think it's one of the best albums I've ever heard.

I think because parts of the album are spoken instead of sung may have thrown me off before because I usually don't listen to music that follows that style, but I've appreciated it as a method to create dynamics in the music (i.e. when she begins to sing it's like a breath of fresh air, and then when she begins to speak again, we can listen even more closely to the lyrics. It creates a call-and-response-like style to the music). Furthermore, the instrumentation is gorgeous: the use of bass and piano in particular are highlights to me. The lyricism and cultural context are also really important to the album as it was designed to be both educational to the world and to be an escapism for queer people. I also like that each song is different from the previous song but ultimately it feels the songs unite well to create a cohesive body of work.

You captured it so well :clap3: I think what I like about Erotica is that sonically it perfectly captures how I imagine that period in time yet its production makes it sound timeless. The beauty of her career is that all of her highlights - particularly her top 3 COADF, Erotica and ROL - all excel as a Madonna album yet all of them are so different. She's truly the mastermind of taking risks, being versatile and reinvention.

When you have too many classics. :jonny:

I left during Rain today.. Did she do Celebration or skipped it again?

Truly the most iconic discography in pop history. My top five albums (not necessarily in this order since my number one changes all the time) are Confessions On A Dance Floor, Ray Of Light, American Life, Erotica and...  Madame X.

Madame X made me re-stan when it came out. While I think it aged I loved it upon the release - Madellin, Faz Gostoso, I Don't Search..., Ciao Bela, Dark Ballet.... they are so much better than anyting on Rebel Bored :jonny:

LIVE TO TELL LIVE OMFGGG

Does anyone think will be geting updates of her sales/certifications soon because it's ridiculous at this point.

Nope.

Nope.

I don't understand what's the problem, she was even bragging to Jimmy Kimmel she surpassed 400 million but we get nothing. If she keeps messing around she'll be surpassed, there is stuff from the 80's that still hasn't been updated.

I was just thinking… While I absolutely loved Madame X, I can understand why people felt disconnected to it…

Hearing her talk about her near-death experience and her deceased brother in Belgium, seeing her look like herself again, witnessing her getting emotional in public… I feel like her next album will be extremely personal and introspective, something a-la Ray of Light. The public seems ready to love her again and finally accept that she is a human with flaws, but above all one of the greatest artists to ever walk the Earth.

I hope she works with Stuart in the studio again. He can produce something dance-y and she can create something trendy, clubby and personal, the way she did with Orbit for ROL.

both are such great pop songs and could have been singles. Why does she always hate/ignore her "Beautiful X" songs? :gaycat6:
