In one way I feel like all stars are aligned for February. Joker will def have a teaser at the Super Bowl so they should def capitalize on how viral it will get to launch something.

And with the Grammys around too, like go for the fun, no nominations are in play, just show up and prove you're always the talk of the town.

Yeah I was thinking too it would be pretty smart to release the song on 02/02, promote it at the Grammys two days later to maximize its debut, and then give it a nice second week cushion with the Joker trailer release at the Super Bowl to cross promote the movie and Gaga overall.

Were the Grammys trying to tell us something?

Pointless af when its release is so far out still and the fact booking a Superbowl commercial ad slot is the most expensive one you can get. When they can still get all the hype by releasing it not during then. (Considering all the viral tik toks and videos we got of the little BTS we did see  )

It is 2024, this kind of stuff does not work any more. We can not get mad at Bobby for being a "bad manager" and then demand promo moves that do not work. They have to get their playlist game in check if success is the goal (I doubt, tbh).

 

Honestly expecting nothing right now so I can be pleasantly expected if something does happen.

I think Warner Bros. are kinda notorious for doing this though, especially for DC films. They had a SB commercial last year or the year before that was literally just a promo reel for like 5 DCEU movies at the time. Last year 'The Flash' also had one. With DC going on hiatus aside from Joker in 2024, I think it's pretty likely cause it's their biggest film of the year. It's less to do with promoting the film, and more to do with WB not wanting the conversation to be dominated by Disney movies.

It worked for Levitating. But I do agree that the most effective promo methods are strong playlisting, releasing multiple versions (be it CDs, vinyls, or extended mixes/sped up/slowed down/acoustic/a capella/instrumentals onto iTunes for fans to mass-buy first week), teasing on TikTok, and a good radio deal.

I could see a SB trailer or teaser coming. The movie is premiering in August at Venice.

No shade to Blade, since we love the reliable legend and I believe them, but i'm not sure I really buy the whole "Dua delayed her single for Gaga" thing. Probably just a coincidence. Dua wouldn't delay the song that far in advance if she was planning to release it before the Grammys. 

 

I feel like artists mainly only delay releases if they're under the same parent label (see: Ariana and Lil Nas X). Gaga is UMG, while Dua is Warner MG.

 

Just saying this before people start claiming her career is over once Feb 2nd comes and there's no single.

I agree with this too. My post was just an observation. If Gaga isn't going to use the Grammy tracking week, another big artist surely will.
