The Joker movie doesn't really fit into the typical "comic book movie" category though, despite it's source material. It's essentially a dark psychological thriller with a main character who happens to be a comic book character. If Gaga's performance is hugely critically acclaimed, and is seen as a humanising portrayal in the vein of Heath's and Joaquin's, I think she has a very good shot at a nomination at the very least, and her missing for HOG helps with that too.

 

BUT of course, it all depends on how the movie is received in the first place, however I have faith that the script must be amazing for the pure fact that Joaquin even agreed to do the sequel.
