And then a fun cameo in Kill Bill 3 with Tarantino, a lead role in a Jane Campion drama, and Del Toro directing a visual album

Where do I have to sign for this?

Grace Randolph is being delusional with that take.

There's literally not a single actor who has been nominated to an Oscar everytime they did a movie, not even being nominated to the precursors as well, so I don't get why the bar for Gaga has always been put to the highest extreme.

Gaga literally had people like Jane Campion one of the most respected person in the industry claiming she deserved to be nominate, I don't think her missing HOG nomination is taking away prestige from her name, she still got a second BAFTA nomination the second most important prestigious industry awards which none of the women nominated this year got and NYFCC which is the most prestigious critic circle award and one of the oldest, not even Di Caprio has one.

better question is why does this fanbase take grace's word as gospel? it makes no sense. she's not even a well-respected reviewers. she's just a youtuber. she may be good for insider tea, but she's not known for being the voice of the industry. :rip:

Gar needs to take risks in her acting career.

ASIB = risk

HOG = not a risk

JFAD = a risk

how the hell is ASIB risky but not HOG? :laugh:

She's a mess and gays love that, basically a sort of movie version of Wendy, gays love those kind of messy-over the top figures who throws shades or gives away comments without real awareness of facts.

Just look the way of how she dragged Jessica Chanstain during the years by calling her with disrespectful names and insults, a professional respected reviewer would have never done that.

idgi? not everything has to be risky. she's allowed to sometimes do safe projects; all actresses do it.

She's really hit a sweet spot with her career. Being able to go on a little tour and gross $100m and then do some shows in Vegas and gross $100m and then do a movie and gross $100m.... her career is insane. :jonny:

I mean, with all that money she could be hiring the best producers, composers and creative teams in the entire world. :rip:

When L. Gaga and Catherine Keener give us the Joker version of this.

None of Gar Gar's roles have been risky. ASIB is a tried and tested Hollywood fav story, HOG is a Ridley Scott midsized production, and JFAD is a sequel in an established, Oscar-winning comic book franchise. She needs to book an A24 indie flick or work with fresh directorial talents if she wants to dig deeper into the movie business.

ASIB was universally seen as an impending disaster and it was both the lead and the director's debut and J:FaD is sounding like a complete artistic left-swing. Both are definitely risks even if not completely inaccessible arthouse pics. Even HoG wasn't an obvious choice as a follow-up.

They are somewhat "risky" in that some elements were uncertainties, but barring a full fledged disaster, Hollywood was always going to support an A Star Is Born movie, a beloved story in the industry, and comic book fans will have their butts in seats for FAD, with a beloved character returning for a sequel. I do hope she tries to do something less mainstream and gets her EEAAO moment down the road.

its more than just story.

ASIB was debut project for Bradley as director. It is always risky to work with unproven director even with tested Hollywood fav story. It was Gagar first major hollywood role in the hand of debut director who was not only directing but singing and acting as well. The film literally relies on basically inexperienced people leading (Gaga and Bradley). Even if one of them would have under-delivered the whole film would have fallen apart.

Gworl idk if you're joking but that's just grossly oversimplifying things.

All three were risks to varying degrees. Yes, ASIB is a tried and tested Hollywood story BUT it was Bradley's directorial debut paired with a lead actress debut. It was set up to fail on paper but it turned out to be the biggest success of the entire ASIB series. HoG, well the accent work and working with a hit-and-miss director (lately) like Ridley is enough to deem it a risk. Also, the fact that Patrizia wasn't really a known figure and the story wasn't as well known outside Italian circles unlike other high-profile biopics. She was also part of a really high-caliber, Oscar winning ensemble, with just her second lead role. She could have easily disappeared and faded into the background but she didn't. Instead, she held her own and became the highlight and the saving grace of the film. And Joker will have musical elements/sequences and as a brand has a core demographic that's literally 180 to her own. So, yeah.

This notion that only small-budget indie films are risky is simply not true. At least not when seen from a holistic perspective.

I mean I agree with this, and true that Bradley was a risk as a first time director, but all these films have had seasoned filmmakers and producers behind the scenes who know what they're doing and know how to course correct. ASIB is the riskiest of all her projects so far, for sure, but I don't see HOG or JFAD to be high risk projects. No matter how bad JFAD is, there will be people watching just to see the trainwreck unless it's completely unentertaining like Fant4stic was.

What does this have to do with what I said? Her team is comprised of award winning professionals whether y’all like their work or not lol. Her creative team with Chromatica was top notch and helped create some of her best imagery… but that wasn’t good enough of course.
