Mainly because no major stars release in December because of the Christmas music takeover, and labels want to cash in by people hopefully seeing the lists and buying the music as gifts. (That was more of a thing years ago, but the timing has stayed the same.)

It was lowkey infuriating too because a May single would have been 80% guaranteed to smash but Mayhem was already a certified smash era out the door with Abracadabra, TDD killed nothing and jokes aside, it was still a little treat.

Abra has OVER 640M streams on Spotify in LESS than a year. 

It's her second or third fastest song to hit the milestones (?) yet you're worried it was outstreamed by some random song that only got a boost from an algorithm change.

Without TDD, MAYHEM would have fallen out of the Top 50 Album Charts a long time ago, no song charting on Hot 100 after they changed the rules to prevent DWAS for charting, wouldn't have reached 5B streams to date, and its Sunday streams would drop below 5M already. It did what it needed to do to keep the era going as long as possible!
