We've decided. Gaga will perform at the Grammys. Someone email Michael please.

"She'll need at least 15 minutes to do a Mayhem medley...Uh-huh...yeah...Well I don't care if you have to cut the 'In Memoriam' segment. Make it work."

So embarrassing :deadbanana2:

Spoiler

She's doing angel down tonight as the surprise song

Some numbers (shoutout to @Leptine linking me to a breakdown of the Recording Academy membership by genre/voting block) that give some new perspective on Gaga's AOTY chances. Put in spoilers because it's a bit long

Spoiler

According to this article, there were 13,000 voting members of the Academy last year:

https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://www.billboard.com/pro/recording-academy-invites-3600-new-members-2025/

Breakdown by percentage here (these numbers are from 2024):

Spoiler

By genre, the current voting membership is 27% pop; 19% jazz; 17% R&B; 17% rock; 13% American roots; 13% alternative; 12% classical; 10% global music; 10% Latin music; 10% other; 10% rap; 9% dance/electronic; 9% country; 8% gospel/Christian; 8% visual media; 7% contemporary instrumental; 5% new age; 4% children's; 4% musical theatre; 3% reggae; 3% spoken word; and 1% comedy. (Members could select more than one genre.) Jazz and classical are overrepresented, relative to their share of the music market. Country lags behind its share of the music market.

Taking those percentages with the data in the Billboard article gives us the following number of voters in each genre (approximately):

Pop voters: 3,510

Jazz: 2,470

R&B: 2,200

Rock: 2,200

Alt roots: 1,700

Classical: 1,700

Global: 1,560

Latin: 1,300 (pre new voters)

Other: 1,300

Rap: 1,300

Dance/Electronic: 1,170

Country: 1,170

Assuming all 3,900 new Latin members this year are voting members then this new move would make Latin the largest voting block and would give BB the advantage. However, if Gaga can pull a good number of voters from pop, jazz, rock, and dance, it may be enough to offset that + beat Kendrick too.

Actually many of you have mistaken. I just read the new member report. There are 3800 new members, and 76% of them are voting members (so 2900). And from these only 13% of them registered as Latin branch (380). You guys way overestimated the inclusion of Latin Grammys members.
